LPA rear sight on 1377 w/steel breech

I put an LPA rear sight on one of my 1377s with the long steel breech and couldn't get the elevation low enough before I ran out of adjustment. It seems to be a common problem from what I've read. How many of you have used this LPA on your 1377s and did you have this issue and how did you fix it? I put a small shim in the dovetail which helped the sight to sit lower in the slot but it wasn't enough so I raised the front sight. I glued a brass escutcheon pin on top of the front sight, sanded the glue, blackened it and polished the head of the brass pin with Mothers mag polish. It's now got plenty of elevation range up and down and is dead on accurate and looks like a brass bead. I just did it to a second 1377 with the same results. It cost me nothing but a little time but was wondering what you guys may have come up with to correct this issue.

Still need to clean up the glue job and paint the front sight, but you get the general idea. It shoots very accurately for as far as I can see my target. My scoped 1377 with the BugBuster takes care of targets out beyond that. My other (3rd) 1377 is identical to this picture minus the stock.

The LPA and steel breech I got were ordered as a kit and is supposed to be used together. The LPA sight fits so loosely in the breech dovetail that when you lock the set screws down the sight sits so high in breech you can see daylight under it. If it fit tighter and sat lower to the breech I don't think the elevation adjustment would be an issue. Still, after some tinkering I like the set up.
