I have a small mill at home, but youre right . How much would you expect to pay to drill & tap or mill the slots?
What would you get instead?I'd pass on all of them. But that's just my opinion.
When it comes to Surplus gun is where I have a lot of the same models , but they’re all a little different.Hard to believe you don't have at least two of everything gunny... your pics of mile long lines of guns amaze me.
We're going out bopping around today.. a couple stops should have some guns to peruse. I liked the 512. Price is tempting at $125. I can blow that alot quicker than buying a cheap plinker!
Down here the Remington 512 in good shape sale closer to $200. They are great shooters.
Not my first, just another toy to play with
What would you get instead?
For no valid reason, I would probably by it.The jc is like new in the stamped metal box and all that, hence the high price.
Savage Mark IIWhat new bolt action might you suggest?
The 290 does have issues....light strikes being the most major one and it is not an easy fix....however I will say when it is working it is a nice little rifle. That was my son's first "real" rifle, and it did serve him well....but yea...get someone that KNOWS them to check it out....
The J.C. Higgins brand was used by Sears from 1908 until 1962 on sporting good items. It was replaced with the Ted Williams brand. On the JC it would be nice to know its vintage....I tend to be drawn to older things....that may not be the best thing however.
