Especially if you remember hearing it on the radio when it first came out, which I do.You are showing your age if you remember the One Eyed One Horned Flying Purple People Eater song.

Too each their own, but I would rather have a 19 round XDm etc over an AR pistol that is going to make your ears bleed.Natural disasters, rioters setting fires; these are times which force you to leave the protection of familiar surroundings, and it would be darn handy to lay an AR pistol across your lap in a car vs. wielding even a 16” carbine.
To the ARA Group,
I have two AR's that are completely built...
Well except for #1 that I want to put a different flashhider on mainly for looks. (Then again I may leave it as is depending on my mood).
The ALG ACT trigger arrived and is installed on #1. As GunnyUSMC said I love it. It is a very nice FCG. I hope to get to the range Friday to run it through it's paces.
So both 1 & 2 are good-to-go.
I have builds 3 and 4 in progress with The Purple People Eater (4) designated as a gift to Daughter #1. (This is the kid that claimed all of my guns last fall when she was visiting. Smart kid with good tastes in guns.) My long term goal is to build 6 AR's as there are 6 adults in my family and with the exception of Daughter #1 let them each pick the AR they like. I may have to do some parts swapping or even build another one to please everyone.
And since I believe 1 is none, 2 is 1 and 3 is 2 that means I need two more AR's (7 & 8) so I have my personal use ones covered.
And don't even start talking about the Grandkids. Thank goodness they are still to young to start shooting.
p.s. I took advantage of a sale this weekend and ordered some more parts for #3. I am danging the torpedoes and going full speed to get #3 done...
soon.
Good plan except you didn’t include an extra or two. You never know when the end of the world will happen or worse you have a few buddies who want to learn how to shoot.
Actually the biggest need will be ammunition. It will have to be a "bring your own bullets" end of the world party.
I'd always heard how loud that AR pistols were and how I was going to have to get a flash can/Noveske Pig of some type and then I got one and it's honestly not that bad.Too each their own, but I would rather have a 19 round XDm etc over an AR pistol that is going to make your ears bleed.
Currently I’m close to you in that I have two complete ARs and a box of stripped lowers. The box of lowers were purchased on a Flash sale and suppose to be kept for whatever people do who keep stripped lowers.
The M16 and M16A1 used .625 gas blocks. Are there any problems or downsides to using a .625 gas block lightweight 16" carbine barrel?
