Best place for ammo?

My academy is looking for places to purchase ammo from for our qualification next week. I'm guessing we will need about 10k in pistol and shotgun ammo. Anyone have a decently priced site that would be able to handle this order?

They provide it for us but the commander said he needs to check around for prices. I told him I would look into a few places. Its like its a mad scramble cause they had to change some stuff around. He said he usually sends it out for bids but not sure what's the deal now.

Fair enough. I haven't ordered a ton of ammo online, but I had good luck at both SGammo and Target Sports USA.

With those qualifiers, and if your reasonably close to OK., my vote would be for S G Ammo.

Next Saturday is our first range session and then its 50hrs more after that.
 
Cheaper than dirt, ammo depot, sportsman guide, bulk ammo are just a few but you can also buy bulk at Walmart if you give them enough time YMMV.
 
If you have a list send it and details to ole Larry at midwayusa. It's worth a shot if he's give a deal.

Not being funny but what are the odds that’s gonna happen? Lol.

I gave him ammo seek today for starters and will check others tomorrow. I guess a large local store will not order or sell to us so it’s a mad scramble.
 
So ammo seek has Remington for 15ct a round and federal and Winchester on SG is running about 17ct a round. I will advise him of SGammo tomorrow as well. He said something last night about needing to send out for bids but he would talk to the school and see what they said. Not really sure what that means but he was impressed with the prices i gave.
 
If just wanting a place with inventory and best price, email the first 10 results on Ammoseek and see who wants to work with you, can /guarantee/ they have it in stock.

Since time is short, I'd think about splitting the order. Order from 2-3 places even if it costs a couple bucks more so you are more guaranteed to get at least SOME of it in time if there's an accident, confusion, or they are lying about inventory.


But... "academy"? Like, run by a local, county, or state government? I doubt that submitting a several thousand dollar order from Random Internet Store® will go well. You need to call up whoever does purchasing there and make sure (and if they are iffy, have them call who they get approval from and make SURE) that they do not need to be a pre-approved vendor, must be in-state, or some other permission or requirements. Especially as it's a consumable so you cannot send it back if there's a screwup, don't do this wrong or it will be in the local papers. People have been fired for less.

I guess he has checked around locally and everyone is pretty high. The way i took it was oh you have deep pockets so let me sell you a case at more than i would sell joe blow off the street. I would think some of the larger stores would sell it at cost or slightly over to just help out LE. I gave him the info and he said he would check and see if the bids came back or not and if hes allowed to order online. Ill let you guys know what happens next weekend.
 
Target Sports USA, or buy directly from a distributor.
If you're in CA check Miwall or LAX as they both load new ammo
When I went through the Academy cadets had to supply our own ammo.
But ammo wasn't quite as expensive back then either and everybody shot .38 Spl.s.
