My old Toyota Tundra’s bed is lined with that rough, black stuff. I think it’s called a “Rhino Liner.”

The other day I drove down to the county gravel pit to try out some new 9mm loads. I found that if I stood about 4 feet behind my pickup, with it to my right, my Springfield 9mm would toss every fired case into the pickup bed.

When I got home, all I had to do was ask my wife to bring the broom and dustpan, and sweep up the cases. The Tundra is kinda high, and both my wife and I are getting on in years, so I had to help my wife climb into the bed. And as she was sweeping up the cases, she grumbled at me a bit. But it was sure a lot easier than my searching for, and picking up cases off the ground myself.:D

A few years ago I was at the range on the pistol line, and an older gentleman came to the line. He opened an old Samsonite briefcase, removed a few boxes of ammo, mags, and a 1911 ( a SS Gold Cup, I think ).

He then placed the briefcase, which only contained a few rags, about 3 feet behind him, about 5 feet to his right, open, and facing him.

I'd say about 90% of his brass landed neatly in the case.

When I commented on it, he remarked that when it started missing the case, he changed his recoil spring.

He outshot me, too.

I used to have a Ruger KP90DC that after finding just the right power load I could drop almost all fired brass into a 5 gallon bucket just to the right and barely behind of my right foot. after smoothing and playing with the trigger it was one of the best, most accurate semi-autos I've ever seen.
Like a darn fool, i let it get away from me so I could get a Glock G30. Worst foul up I ever made in gun trading/selling.

I still have the G30 and just recently gave it to the wife because she can shoot it OK.

I want to try catching ejected brass via an open car window
I want to shoot from inside the vehcile out the window so I can have the AC and radio on, the vehicle can collect the brass.:)

"OH Dear will you please collect my brass inside the truck" YA SURE!:what:

I fold the seats in my suburban which creates 8 foot long flat area for me to shoot sitting/prone out the rear with barn doors open. I use 8 interlocking foam exercise mats for comfort.

Spent brass fall on foam mats for easy collection but using brass catcher on carbines/ARs make brass collection even easier.:thumbup::thumbup:

Park truck ~perpendicular~ to the target. Drop tailgate. Grab your sittin stool and use tailgate for a shooting bench.

I don't think I could get my better half to sweep out the bed for me!
Perhaps she will be more inclined to use these. :)

I can't complain. The last time we were in the local gun store she bought me 8 pounds of IMR4350. The time before she offered to buy me a Colt Lightweight Commander in 9mm. I passed on the Colt, but only because I have a few at home already. She may not sweep out the truck, but she is a keeper!

.308 Norma....... You win my laugh- a- day award! Loved that post.

The last time my wife & I went shootin' we both agreed to not let the brass land in the back of the pick-up, as it was easier for us to pick them up off the ground than crawl up into the box.:D

No sense getting all that dirty brass in the bed of your nice F150. Just hang an old blanket at the range slightly to the right. Then shoot your Mini, in this case my mini 6.8. All the brass nicely hits the blanket and deposits itself in the container below. No sweeping for the wife when I get home, which she really appreciates. It could also hit one of the many other firearms in the back.

Heck I would fall asleep and take a long nap!:)

Once had a student collect her spent brass down the front of her well filled low cut shirt which immediately produced a range safety problem! Fortunately I was standing literally right next to her so was able to gain control of her firearm quickly. Loaned her my bandana to tie around her neck for the rest of the time she was there. While her method worked I cannot recommend it.

My SKS uses its spent brass as a defensive projectile. It will rain down on all and sundry to my right rear. At the old range it was a nuisance at times for bouncing off the overhead. Great gun though.

This guy is the guy I want around on my side when I stumble into trouble; and he is also the guy I would want to avoid making mad. The very definition of only having one gun and knowing how to use it.
