The biggest pile of garbage I've ever read

Wow.

This is the description of the author:
[dude] is our expert in hunting. He was born in Alaska, so hunting was his hobby since high school. Later, Shawn took a Hunter Training at Alaska Department of Fish and Game to structure his knowledge and now he is open to share his knowledge with our readers. Shawn is taking ‘Safety First’ approach on all of his trips, especially is some people are going hunting for the first time.

The 223, with proper bullets works just fine on deer size game. But that article is poorly written and not factual.

There are a number of 'text mills' ("Textbroker" is a big player in this market) where 'authors' get paid pennies for articles of a specific length about topics requested by 'content providers.'

The vast majority of these quasi-informative articles read just like this-some person, possibly from a foreign country, Googling and using Wikipedia to create a semi-coherent article about the topic spec'd by the customer. The customer, in turn, uses the article as click-bait to reach into Google results, often paying to promote it, to drive traffic to their site.

Soon-and perhaps we're already there-we'll have articles written by bots. These articles will then be parsed by bots, like Google's, and ranked in search results. If we play our cards right, humans should be able to slowly back out of the internet and let automation run it in just a couple years. :)

Written by someone or something that has no understanding of the subject material.
Makes chinglish instructions look good.

Wow, just wow! Had to be the worst and most unintelligible article I've read in a while. (And we just got done with an election cycle so I've read plenty of unintelligible stuff lately)
I'm still trying to figure out if this was a real article or a ridiculous joke.

Lol. Total fakeness from some third world non English speaker that steals and mangles articles with bad translations.

The whole site is a scam designed purely as a place to put online advertising. There is no Shawn Harrison, that's just a picture someone skimmed off the web and the "autobiography" is fiction. The whole website is garbage and, as I pointed out, the pictures in the articles are stolen from other sources. The "comments" are generated by whoever runs the website and posted for effect.

Look at it as comic relief. We certainly need that now, when guns are under attack and there's not much to smile about.

Remember "Professor Irwin Corey" -- "the World's Foremost Authority" -- whose whole schtick was spouting erudite-sounding gibberish? This is that.

So we saw Harrison's bio

Here is one for their fisherman expert...
Neal Walker started fishing when he was 4. His father took him to the fishing trips all over USA and Canada. Later he took Angling Education Program at Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, but most of his knowledge comes from experience. Now he takes his sons with him to share his passion.

Outdoor guy...
Dennis Owens is a graduate of National Camping School and REI Outdoor School. He knows everything about what gear to take with you, how to plan your trip to stay safe and what to do if you get lost in the mountains. We are lucky to have Dennis with us as he is a ‘walking encyclopedia’ when it comes to the wilderness.

Survival gal...Rita Warfield
Fully passionate about the outdoors and totally committed to a life of exploration and learning, Rita is the perfect guide when it comes to choosing the right gear for your adventures. She gathered years of practical experience in testing her survival skills and knowledge in a wide range of difficult situations but she is also a passionate mountain climber. Even more, Rita loves hunting, she knows her way around a weapon, and she doesn’t back off in a difficult situation.

I can't find any of these folks on the internet except for being associated with this site. None seem to be on FB or Twitter, for example. I believe John is right and that they are all fake people.

This article, (well half article, I couldn’t finish it) reminds me of something a kid would throw together for a report.

I took a rabbit sized whitetail in Montana with a 223 many years ago and would not do it again. This writer sounds like he writes for Chilton auto repair manuals with just enough information to be dangerous. On second thought I would believe the Chilton manual first.

Totally clueless and his writing is terrible. I thought at first it was written in another language and run through a really crappy translator until I realized he was from Alaska.

I'd also wager he's not approving any negative comments, otherwise it'd be flooded with them.

Definitely smacks of content mill and not even a decent one. It’s likely the “author” has never picked up a rifle or set foot in the woods and instead was paid $5 to mash content from a number of other articles into that word salad.

The internet effectively killed writing as a profession.

Goodness. That was great for a (sad and pathetic) laugh this morning. That article almost reads as if it was written by a middle school student who was told to research a subject he knew nothing about, then write a paper on it. Of course, this would have been a C- kind of article, even for that student.

If you don't know anything about a subject, writing an article on it doesn't make you an expert.

I feel bad for the poor souls who read that drivel. They obviously don't know anything about hunting, cartridges for larger game, etc. To feed them with such bad information might be criminal, if it weren't from ignorance.

Felt like writing a response, but it would probably result in a hail of negative comments from those poor folks who think that guy is God of ballistics. Hopefully, they will diversify their intake and find boards like this, where straight answers prevail.

(By the way, the largest deer killed in Maine for many years was one that weighed about 300 lbs and was killed with a .222 Remington cartridge. I almost fell over backwards when I read that information at the State Library.)

The more I think about this, the more I feel that place is a content mill. They only allow positive comments on their posts (guess how I found that out), and the article makes no sense at all to anyone who knows something about the subject. But, now a whole bunch of us have also clicked on the article, which will only drive more ad revenue their way. Sigh.

I would bet it has been through a crappy translator twice.
