The 223, with proper bullets works just fine on deer size game. But that article is poorly written and not factual.

Look, the author may have a loyal following who hang on his every word. I'm wondering how much of that literature has made it into the net conventional wisdom?

There are a number of 'text mills' ("Textbroker" is a big player in this market) where 'authors' get paid pennies for articles of a specific length about topics requested by 'content providers.'

The vast majority of these quasi-informative articles read just like this-some person, possibly from a foreign country, Googling and using Wikipedia to create a semi-coherent article about the topic spec'd by the customer. The customer, in turn, uses the article as click-bait to reach into Google results, often paying to promote it, to drive traffic to their site.

Soon-and perhaps we're already there-we'll have articles written by bots. These articles will then be parsed by bots, like Google's, and ranked in search results. If we play our cards right, humans should be able to slowly back out of the internet and let automation run it in just a couple years.

Wow, just wow! Had to be the worst and most unintelligible article I've read in a while. (And we just got done with an election cycle so I've read plenty of unintelligible stuff lately)
I'm still trying to figure out if this was a real article or a ridiculous joke.

That site offered some suggestions on selecting a handgun scope. That thing is a scam. Hope there is no virus about.

Look at it as comic relief. We certainly need that now, when guns are under attack and there's not much to smile about.

I can't find any of these folks on the internet except for being associated with this site. None seem to be on FB or Twitter, for example. I believe John is right and that they are all fake people.

This article, (well half article, I couldn’t finish it) reminds me of something a kid would throw together for a report.

The text is not unlike some of the scams from India. It kinda looks like English but......

I took a rabbit sized whitetail in Montana with a 223 many years ago and would not do it again. This writer sounds like he writes for Chilton auto repair manuals with just enough information to be dangerous. On second thought I would believe the Chilton manual first.

Definitely smacks of content mill and not even a decent one. It’s likely the “author” has never picked up a rifle or set foot in the woods and instead was paid $5 to mash content from a number of other articles into that word salad.

The internet effectively killed writing as a profession.

Goodness. That was great for a (sad and pathetic) laugh this morning. That article almost reads as if it was written by a middle school student who was told to research a subject he knew nothing about, then write a paper on it. Of course, this would have been a C- kind of article, even for that student.

If you don't know anything about a subject, writing an article on it doesn't make you an expert.

I feel bad for the poor souls who read that drivel. They obviously don't know anything about hunting, cartridges for larger game, etc. To feed them with such bad information might be criminal, if it weren't from ignorance.

Felt like writing a response, but it would probably result in a hail of negative comments from those poor folks who think that guy is God of ballistics. Hopefully, they will diversify their intake and find boards like this, where straight answers prevail.

(By the way, the largest deer killed in Maine for many years was one that weighed about 300 lbs and was killed with a .222 Remington cartridge. I almost fell over backwards when I read that information at the State Library.)

The more I think about this, the more I feel that place is a content mill. They only allow positive comments on their posts (guess how I found that out), and the article makes no sense at all to anyone who knows something about the subject. But, now a whole bunch of us have also clicked on the article, which will only drive more ad revenue their way. Sigh.
