I have a hard time crying for any of them. I still remember my late uncle, out in his garage after dinner, stripping insulation from wire scraps to sell the copper to buy powder and primers. This was after he had worked a 10+ hour day 50+ hr week at his job as an electrician. I doubt any of us here has someone paying for our hobbies, so it will be a cold day in hades before I pay someone else so that they can do their hobbies.

Think about it: they want us to pay them so they can buy a gun and then show us what it's like to open the box the first time. Seriously? Then there are the political channels, of which Yankee Marshall is king; they want us to pay them for their political opinion? smh

I've actually been watching videos for the game Red Dead Redemption 2 recently. I enjoy seeing the various story lines and history in the game, even though I've never played it.

I no longer have the time to spend endless hours exploring a game like this, or the funds to buy high end computers or gaming systems.

Funny you mention "look". That's almost become my go/no go gauge on youtube reviewers. If I start a video and the reviewer has on 511 pants, a snug black t-shirt or polo shirt, and is sporting Oakleys I've learned there's a good chance I won't really learn anything valuable so I should just move on. There's an even higher likelihood it's a crap video if he's sporting an operator beard.

I am always a little suspicious of those who show up on camera in their back yard wearing tactical clothing/gear. It just seems pointless. Who does that in real life?

But I have to wear that stuff for my job quite often (the 5-11 Apex pants are excellent, by the way, love the zipper pockets, while the polo shirt is a requirement too, and does display my old guy buffness) ... no operator beard, though.

Seriously, I get that some guys try to cultivate a certain look (do you hear me, all you guys that work in my local gun shop?), but I'm to the point now that I think it's just gun culture fashion, wanting to be recognized as in the circle, maybe it gets a little over the top, but it's harmless and does help us identify firearms aficionados.

Plus, it's entertaining when I stop in my local Fred Meyer store and spot a couple young guys kitted out like Blackwater contractors ready to hit the streets of Fallujah.

People at my gun club do that often enough for me to be extra wary. There are a lot of active duty military around though so it can be understandable. All I know is that I did my time in service and that is the last time I want to be all tacticaled out.

I find Paul Herrell interesting and informative. Hickok 45 can be entertaining. I've yet to find anyone else worth watching regularly.

And the reviewers among them seem surprised that brand-new guns, which make up so many reviews, from a retail business function quite well?
Why would they Not function really well?

If such reviews were not mostly meaningless, other than personal impressions of features, the extremely popular AKOU/"AK Operators Union" (3,500-5,000 rds. tested, with close-ups of high stress internal components) would but far less known than some by the commercial shill James Yeager.

I've watched and enjoyed the Paul Herrel videos but must confess that I hate the guy, he always shoots through his chronograph at what seems like a minimum of twenty yards and what erks me is that in addition to never shooting the darn thing he can see the velocities on the display at that distance. Couldn't happen in Brutus land.

And what is this "operator beard" anyway? I remember being made to run laps around the barracks for trying to get away with shaving with an electric razor *gasp!* instead of a standard razor. "Poh-lease that moostash!!!" smh

He commented recently on a video that has chronograph has a large display, and that he sets it up at 7 yards.

He said in one video that the target he was shooting appeared to be at 20 yds was only 7 because of the camera angle. I highly doubt he is lying or trying to do anything but demonstrate what ever subject is discussing.

Paul Herrell normally uses the chronograph at 7 yards. Closer with shotguns.

I sometimes fast forward thru the chronograph shooting. He's consistent, so I know I'll get the summary afterwards. And I did wonder about how he could see the numbers.

Same here. I also fast forward through the shooting. I know he'll show the targets and discuss accuracy. Watching other people shoot is like watching paint dry. Or grass grow. Or cars rust.

Forgotten Weapons - I agree, Ian is a treasure trove of knowledge on weird and interesting guns. Refreshingly free of right wing identity politics or macho tactical BS despite Ian being a pretty good shooter and competitor.
Hickock45 - Like hanging out with a cool uncle. It’s something mildly interesting to have on in the background while I’m doing household chores or handloading.
Capandball - Fantastic videos about cool old black powder weapons and gives an insight into gun ownership in Europe.
Lucky Gunner - Great production values and ideas for drills, not to mention their very rigorous ammo testing.
Paul Harrel - Solid testing of real world targets from a low-key guy who is obviously a good shot and knows his stuff. Once again, completely BS-free.

All the others are pretty ignorable.

C&Rsnal Is at the top of my list, not sure if I have said it before. There are so many on there that are just too far into the weeds.

Paul Harrel, is in general good....I disagree with him sometimes, but he does a pretty good job at being neutral.

Hickock, I generally swing by if there is something I am looking for.

9holereviews.....I just found these guys.....sorry for the incorrect PC but that Asian guy can shoot. Pretty neutral.....I just came across them a few weeks ago.....they do run the guns and push them out. To be young again and have good eyes.
