I got my arm twisted yesterday and ended up with a new Colt Cobra, 38 Special. I haven't shot it yet, but first impressions, naturally are than I like it. No, it doesn't have the classic Colt Blue that my 1981 Detective Special has, but the matte SS finish is nicely done, and should be pretty much maintenance free. The "goodyear" grips aren't as nice as wood ones, but do provided a nice secure grip and who cares in they get banged around a little. The trigger is really nice. The fiber optic front sight just jumps out at me. I usually paint all my sights bright orange anyway, so I feel right at home with it.

Some crappy pictures.

To give you a size comparison, here it is with it's prettier sister, a 1981 Detective Special, and it's smaller cousin, a Smith and Wesson 642-2.

You know, for a guy who doesn't care much for "snubbies" I seem to have accumulated a few recently. ;)

Nice addition to the Snubnose family! Would love to get one (had a Detective Special and an Agent many years ago), but they're still a little too pricey for me.

I am fighting the urge to buy one of these. If you don't mind my asking, what did you give for it? They are over-priced, locally to me.

Thanks for buying that pre-Trooper .357. You saved me from spending over $700.

I was very impressed when I brought my Cobra home and shot it; a great trigger combined with good sights made shooting it fun. I think you’ll find yours to be a great addition to your stable .

Stay safe.

Looks very nice CB. Let us know how it shoots. With a steel frame, 38 specials should feel fairly mild

I paid about $700 out the door Steve, but I did get a slight discount because it was a display model and had a tiny, almost invisible scratch on the frame. The clerk pointed it out to me. I never saw it before. (It can't be seen in the pictures.)

In case anyone wonders, a number 10 HKS speedloader, for a K-frame Smith and Wesson works just fine.

Thanks for letting me know. Local LGSs are selling for for right at MSRP before taxes. That is ridiculous to me. I may look around online for a better deal. I think I would probably put some Pachmayer grips on it. I have never liked the look of the Hogues, although they are comfortable to shoot.

I just ordered one from Gunbroker. $575 + 25 shipping. My FFL charges $20 for transfer. So, all in at $620. Can' wait. I have always wanted a snubbie, but never pulled the trigger on it. I think this will be a good introduction.
