Henry Single Shot Shotgun

Don’t know anything about the model 37 but the rebounding hammer makes it safe to carry loaded. It should have a block that rises when the trigger is pulled and transfers the hammer impact to firing pin. When the trigger is released the block drops and the hammer cannot contact the firing pin. Just like the transfer bar in Ruger and other revolvers.

Should be a good but expensive gun considering how many old single shot shotguns are floating around. I paid $75 for mine new a few years ago. An IGA made in Brazil IIRC and it’s been a perfectly useful gun. It’s in my closet now with a nylon ammo holder with 5 rounds of buckshot ready to go.

Don’t own one (yet) but the prices I see are what a Winchester Model 37 would cost, adjusted for inflation.

I got hammered on a couple years ago for saying it was pretty pricey for a single shot utility shotgun. I still think so although it is well made and has nice walnut.
I have bought pretty minty 870s for the same money and I'm talking Wingmasters and not Expresses.
You pays your money and makes your choice.
Now, if they brought out a hammerless trap model with adjustable comb and rib, good trigger, mobilchoke equipped, and about eight pounds with a Kick eze pad.....in a fitted luggage case...

And then there is the Midland at around $149.00. I could not be happier, bought two of them. 18" and a 24". Great quality, drilled for Beretta Chokes and comes with modified. And the 22" Turkey gun comes drilled with scope mount.
