The internet is blowing up with the reviews on the new ruger 57. My biggest reason for not trying was the cost of ammo. I have also read it sucks to reload. Anyone having luck and what's the cost.
They both shoot the same ammunition from the comparisons I've seen. Imo they did it backwards and should have released quality cheaper ammo first. That fn ammo is spendy.I’d be very interested to see the chamber design of the Rugers. The FN’s typically have had generous shoulders which blow out considerably, meaning we have to replace them with sizing dies. Unfortunately, that sometimes means collapsing the shoulder instead of pushing it back. The varnish on factory cases to aid in extraction may also not be needed for the Ruger design. Time will tell.
Sounds sorta like me with the PS-90.The internet is blowing up with the reviews on the new ruger 57. My biggest reason for not trying was the cost of ammo. ...
I have this little personal rule about having to be setup to load for all of my centerfire calibers
I've herd of making 22 cal out of 22 brass with no primer hole. Intrested in how and if they shoot good.I make 30 caliber bullets out of 5.7x28 brass.

Now that ruger had come out with a reasonably priced pistol, and rumors of a carbine comming I was thinking that it would become more affordable. Maybe in the future? I also keep hearing about a coating on the case, which I dont know if that is important to function or not. A pass for now.I have a thread on this some time ago. After doing the math it was not worth it to me, The cost of just the projectiles and the initial set up. Dies and I would not load without a case gauge. The pay back time/ amount was to long.
Got Federal ammo in bulk when the had a rebate. I do not shoot it (FN) enough to hassle with reloading.
There are also several other threads

Yes, the coating is VERY important, therefore you should not tumble the brass as it will wear of they coating. Now that ruger had come out with a reasonably priced pistol, and rumors of a carbine comming I was thinking that it would become more affordable.
