This one is a Police Service Six, but, if not mistaken, it is basically the same as a Service six.
I inherited this one from my Father in law and has some interesting history behind it. It is one of my favorite revolvers.View attachment 916427

You aren't mistaken. TTBOMK, all Service Six models are marked Ruger Police Service Six. In reality, I favor them over their adjustable sight brethren.

I had a security six back in the day (70s'). While I found it serviceable the handle narrowed a bit too much for me at the top. That caused it to shift in my hand during strings of fire and made adjustments to my grip a constant. My hands are large and the Ruger just didn't fill the bill for m

Here's what about $200 bought in 1979. The replacement grips were an additional $19:

That's a very attractive piece and it looks like a lot of grips value for $19.

In the early 80's I bought a 6" blued Security Six that was in about 90 % condition cosmetically in .357 mag at a gun show for $130. It had fake pearl grips on it that I didn't particularly care for and 15 minutes into ownership I sold it for a modest gain. I sure wish that I hadn't now but that could be said for about 69 other firearms that I once owned.

All this “six” talk got me to scour the pawn shops. Found a 6 inch security in good shape for 599.00. I want a 4 inch police six but the security was cool!!

Our local shop listed a 4" stainless security six on consignment for $500. I sold a 6” about 2 years ago for quite a bit less unfortunately, and now I'm struggling to remember what I did with the money.

Here is mine, also a Liberty Model manufactured in 1976. I actually keep Hogue Monogrips (like the grips shown in post #51) it for shooting. But then I put Monogrips on all my shooting revolvers. I wish it had a 4 inch barrel like yours as that would be more handy for my use but the 6 inch does very well. Left side view of mine. IMG_1124.JPG

I like the “ all business” look of the 4 incher
Yeah, me too. I’ve always preferred “businesslike” looks when it comes to guns though. I don’t mean to ruffle any feathers here, but that’s probably why I’ve never really cared for Colt Pythons, regardless of their barrel lengths - they’re just too darned “elegant” looking. I’ll take a Colt Trooper over a Colt Python any day of the week. And if the Colt Trooper was stainless with hand-filling rubber grips, it would be even better.:)

Hey y’all! I’m pretty new to THR, but I recently got a Ruger Security Six and thought I would show it off and maybe get to learn more about them. Anyone else have a security six? Pictures welcome!

I had one just like that back in the day, but messed up and sold it for another shiny object. Unfortunately, I have done that alot.
