see the story linked above for the story of the newest world record shot. 22 seconds in flight, 7k+ yards, 4 miles. Awesome. It takes incredible skill to even miss at that range.
But there’s an asterisk to this world record, at least in my book. 1 shot connected after 68 misses. I get it, you have to walk it in and adjust, wind changes etc... and again it takes skill to even be in the ballpark at 4 miles, but can you realistically say that 1 in 69 connecting is a successful shot? Yes that one shot is... but it’s not repeatable, so how much of it was luck? If dirt flew all around it every shot then ok, they finally connected but I see this more as licking into a connection than I do as “making” the shot. No I couldn’t do it, yes it’s impressive, but I don’t see it being news until there’s at least a 3 shot group.
