Duplicates?

I've got a couple of Ruger Security 9 semi-auto's. The only difference is the S/N's. They were inexpensive, so I got two.

I've also got two 2020 Colt Python's, but they're different in that they've 4.2" and 6" barrels, so it's not quite a duplicate.

Same with my Model 19's. I've got two, but one is a 19-1 from the early 60's the other is a -9 from 2017-18? Somewhere in there. The same but different kind of thing.

At one time though I had a half dozen or so each of 10/22's, Model 10', 19's, 15's. Three or four Model 29's, 24's, 27's, 28's and so on. Different barrel lengths, finishes, etc. I came to think it was kind of silly and sold off most of them.

Do you ever get enough. I sort of did. But once in a while something catches my eye still.

What do you mean by "duplicates" ... same make and model? I have two Makarovs, both Bulgarian, one has black grips and one has red. But the other twins I own are different in some way ... barrel length, for example. I don't really see much point in owning two identical guns. But then, some would say they don't see much point in owning more than one gun, period. I would say to them, "shut up!" So, hey, if you want it and if you have the $$, go for it!! (and I'll just shut up). What was it this fellow Tom Jefferson said about "pursuing happiness"?

Two of the exact same thing.

I have a thing, I found another of it, for an amazing price, and I was teetering.

Luckily, I sent the link to a friend, and he is buying it.

So, my friend gets a good gun and I get to rebuild my savings account.

Yes...
I have a few duplicates.
Three Blackhawks in .357Magnum, two with 6-1/2" barrels and one with a 4-5/8" barrel.
Two flat top BlackHawks in. 44Spl...identical barrel lengths.
Two full size Vaqueros in .45Colt...identical barrel lengths.

Two Colt Troopers in .357Magnum...a Mk III and a Mk V. Slightly different but both blued and the same barrel length.

Two Virginian Dragoons in .44Magnum with 7-1/2" barrels...one blued, one stainless, so not quite identical.

Two BlackHawks in .41Magnum...only difference is one is a three screw. Both blued, both 6-1/2" barrels.

Al I can think of at the moment.

Once upon a time I had these duplicate M19's

I've since pared it down to the 4" and one of the snubs

Howdy

My Main Match Pair of 2nd. Gen Colts, 7 1/2" barrel and 5 1/2" barrel, both chambered for 45 Colt. Most guys shoot a pair of identical pistols, but I don't. I carry the short one strongside on my right, the long one crossdraw on my left.

An identical pair in all respects, except they are in pristine condition.

A Smith and Wesson Model 1917 at the top, a Brazilian contract 1917 at the bottom. Bought the Brazilian first a long time ago. Found the one at the top a few years ago.

pmK9pWwjj.jpg

A pair of S&W Model 28-2s. Identical except somebody filled in the marking on the barrel of the top one with yellow paint.

pn0TWN1wj.jpg

A pair of identical 32 Regulation Police. Why? Because when I mentioned to the guy in the shop I already had one, he said now I could have a pair. Made sense at the time.

pnaR4jm6j.jpg

Now for the almost identical stuff.

A 38 Regulation Police and a 32 Regulation Police. Can you tell which is which?

plTm3JOgj.jpg

A pair of 22/32 Heavy Frame Targets. The same except for the grips.

poI5t8bFj.jpg

A pair of Triple Locks. Only difference is the finish (or lack of it).

plLXJVWsj.jpg

A trio of Perfecteds. Nope, not all the same, each one is a little bit different.

pnBDmvQAj.jpg

4" K frames. A 38 M&P and a Model 10.

pl2jKv8xj.jpg

A pair of Model 17s. One with a 8 3/8" barrel, one with a 6" barrel.

pnmmpHw9j.jpg

A pair of K-38s. I really like the one with the fake stag grips.

pnJyhWgFj.jpg

Hmmm...........None of these Three Screws are quite the same.

plaxInD3j.jpg

There must be an identical pair in all of these K-22s. Yup, 2nd from the left and 3rd from the left. Exceprt for the grips. Spoiler alert: There is a Model 17 in there too.

plbA96ihj.jpg

I think maybe the two Police Positive Specials 2nd and 3rd from the right may be identical. Not really, one is a 32-20, the other is a 38 Special, but can you tell from the photo?

plpAnEn5j.jpg

These Colt New Service are almost the same. One is a 45 Colt and one is a 44-40, but other than that, and the barrel lengths............

pn41kV3Nj.jpg

Identical pair of New Model Number Threes except for the finish. I needed a pair for Cowboy Action.

pnIVU3B0j.jpg

Almost forgot. A pair of beat up Merwin Hulberts.

Speaking of long and short barrels, a pair of Lugers. Well, they are pretty similar. Hope nobody mind's me sneaking them onto a revolver page.

I once had a pair of 12 gauge Ithaca 37’s but they werent identical. One had a Dial-a-duck on it.

no duplicates currently, but I do have some close cousins in 1911’s and in Auto 5 clones.

My wife used to have two Ruger 10.5" Super Blackhawks ("Super Silhouettes") because she was heavily into IHMSA - practicing a couple of days a week, and going to a match almost every other weekend. After a while, even a mighty Ruger Super Blackhawk will shoot loose and need returned to the factory for a tune up when you're running close to a thousand full-house 44 Magnum rounds a month through it. So my wife had two of them - one as a backup when the other was back at the factory.
Unlike my wife, I didn't shoot in the "Revolver" Class of IHMSA. I shot in the "Unlimited" Class with my Remington XP, 7mm IHMSA, and I didn't shoot nearly as much - or as "well" for that matter. So I didn't need two identical guns for IHMSA.
BTW, Ruger never charged us a dime for tuning up those Super Silhouettes when we'd ship one of them back. And the turn-around time was usually only 4 or 5 weeks.
My wife still has one of her Super Silhouettes. When we dropped out of the IHMSA, my wife sold one of her revolvers, and she sent the other back to Ruger to have the 10.5" barrel replaced with a more practical 6". Ruger did charge us for that - I don't remember how much.
