Which handgun "PURCHASED NEW" was the best value for the money

Since handguns are so varied and many are somewhat specialized, I’ve selected some that I bought new.

Best CCW gun I’ve bought new was the LCP II .380.

Best plinker has been the Ruger Mk IV 10” .22 LR.

Best revolver has been the S&W 686+ .357.

Best auto, the SA Loaded 1911 .45... and this is juuuuust ahead of the Glock 34 9mm I wear on my hip at work every day.

Stay safe.

Best deal I got on a handgun was my 9mm M&P 2.0 Compact a couple of years ago. All in cost including tax, shipping, FFL fee and manufacturer rebate was $360. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find one now and I'm sure it would cost more.

My CZ-75B limited edition stainless. So accurate, reliable, has night sights, paid 790 for it NIB, I recall it pricing a lot higher several years later.

For pure fun, Uberti Cattleman El Patron. I bought a few boxes of cowboy loads for it and have been reloading for it ever since. Worth every bit of the full price I paid at Basspro back in 2015. So much fun.

Best new one was the SAR CM9 Gen2, a sort of CZ P07 clone. I got mine for $250, shipped, and it's been pretty much perfect. Grip is fantastic, but some people want more "texturing", which I really don't understand. It's accurate, and all I've done to it since I got it was put some glow in the dark paint on the sights, and put a laser and light on it. It's my house gun

My best NEW purchase was a S&W 610 (no dash) for $350.00 out the door with a box of shells. Sold that gun last year for $1500. Now I wish I hadn't, it was a very accurate revolver.

I have two nominees.

1. Taurus G2C (stainless slide): Bought from Rural King in spring of 2019. Paid ~$210 OTD.

2. Canik TP9 Elite Subcompact: Bought a few months ago from Academy when they had 10% off for military. The pistol has an optics cutout and includes a holster. Paid $365 OTD.

Well, I will nominate my Ruger GP100, stainless, 4” full-lug barrel, with adjustable sights. I bought it some time in the 1990 to 1992 time frame. I do not remember the price, but Ruger generally competed well with S&W, during that time.

Part of the value of this GP100 is that my accuracy potential is highest with this configuration of the GP100, than any handgun I have ever fired. The original-pattern factory grip is a perfect fit in my hands, and my index finger naturally touches the trigger in the perfect place for a proper DA stroke. No need to pay anything extra for an aftermarket or custom grip, that is added value. I did not have to “transition” to the GP100. It was like “coming home.”

No matter how many US dollars I paid for this GP100, its perfect-for-me fit and accuracy potential came into play during a defensive shooting. A one-shot defensive shooting. This particular GP100 is priceless. Life is beautiful.

M&P 2.0 40 Compact. I got it around February of last year I think. It was $350 shipped. The only bummer was 2 days after I ordered it I got an E-mail from another online seller with the same gun $50 cheaper. I didn't change up though & I believe it was an excellent value. It may be a long time before we see these kinds of deals again.

I know I said that the Rock Island 1911 FS Tactical was the best bang for the buck for me. I do have to add to that list to include the best bang for the buck in rimfire pistols which would be my Kel-Tec CP33. I picked it up a few months back for $400 after tax. The CP has a good trigger that is better than my Ruger MkII trigger and is the same or better than my S&W 22A trigger. Plus the CP33 is accurate. I have not shot for groups at 50 yards but hitting half or quarter of a clay bird at 50 yards is easy to do with one shot. Plus what's not to like about having 33 rounds fo 22lr goodness in each magazine that fits flush with the grip.

I scored big with the Purchase of a Beretta Pico for $189.00. A gun that IMO is worth double the MSRP. I believe the sale was due to the color of the grip which was Robbins Egg blue. But I also wanted the grey receiver color and already had other color grips which I changed it out.

Placed this grip on it.

I have a lot of hand guns... But the best value for me is the first single six 22/22mag i bought in 72..... for about $71 or $ 73 dollars. I would have to go look in the box to see the exact price.... still use and enjoy it.... so much so that i bought one of the new ones so when i pass on there won't be much of an fight between the two family menbers that want it... now they can just flip a coin for who picks...
