Well, I will nominate my Ruger GP100, stainless, 4” full-lug barrel, with adjustable sights. I bought it some time in the 1990 to 1992 time frame. I do not remember the price, but Ruger generally competed well with S&W, during that time.
Part of the value of this GP100 is that my accuracy potential is highest with this configuration of the GP100, than any handgun I have ever fired. The original-pattern factory grip is a perfect fit in my hands, and my index finger naturally touches the trigger in the perfect place for a proper DA stroke. No need to pay anything extra for an aftermarket or custom grip, that is added value. I did not have to “transition” to the GP100. It was like “coming home.”
No matter how many US dollars I paid for this GP100, its perfect-for-me fit and accuracy potential came into play during a defensive shooting. A one-shot defensive shooting. This particular GP100 is priceless. Life is beautiful.
