I got a Ruger Blackhawk 41 mag in a black friday sale. Bought a box of Hornady 210 gr XTPs and some Starline brass. I have the powder and primers. I just have to locate some dies, then I am all set.

I haven’t yet but if I found the right milsurp rifle a would / will. Sometimes they’re a challenge for ammo anyway so I say get ‘em when you can.

A 327 Fed Mag Henry lever action. Ammunition wasn't *quite* unavailable, but it really put my Google-fu to the test to find what I did. Every gun store I go into that is the very first thing I look for. Occasionally I find some.
Fortunately I can roll my own so while the bullet selection is not great I can find some and the brass is reasonably available. Primers, on the other hand...

I don't have anything on my "Want" list believe it or not. If I did come across something that grabs me it would have to be in a caliber that I have, so no having a gun I can't shoot.

If a gun comes along which I like and it is priced right I won't hesitate to buy it, especially if I can load or roll my own for it. I can load for everything and anything I shoot. During my entire life (so far so good on that note) the only cartridge I flirted with has been the .41 Magnum simply because I like really nice revolvers. Seemed every time I saw a real nice .41 magnum there was something beside it I also wanted. Last time I think it was a S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolmen. Now at this point in my life I just really can't justify going with a new cartridge to those I already have. Anyway availability of on the shelf ammunition really has no effect on my decision making.

Not buying any firearms or ammunition (except 22LR) currently. Using what I have saved up until this seller's market abates some.

Gifted both of my AR15s and all my 5.56 ammo to my sons a couple of years ago.
However, I’ve been thinking about buying another basic overpriced AR like a S&W Sport or Ruger SR556 just to squirrel away in the back of the safe for some other family member’s future consideration. I’ll let them worry about ammo.

If I could send them to you I would. I have an old box of Remington 25-20 Remington I think 86 grain bullets and about 30 left in the box. No clue where it came from but about 30 have a Remington head stamp and a few Peters head stamp. I'll never use them but sending loaded ammunition is a PITA. I'll never have any use for them.

Just bought a SMLE, it was on my "list". Not a bit of 303 anywhere, going to start a brass and bullet hunt.

I was a breath away from buying a 10mm widebody 1911, but stepped back from the edge. I even have a source of 10mm, but I'd determined I didn't need another caliber. It was still a very near thing.
I wouldn’t hesitate. I’ve bought lots of firearms I didn’t have ammo for at the time. Even if components are hard to come by (they haven’t been for me), I can wait. I have plenty of other firearms to shoot until components become available.

Last time this happened I acquired a handfull of .22 rimfire firearms at fire sale prices because of no ammo availability. If this mess drags on longer or gets worse I may again find some good deals. I will wait patiently and see what develops.

That's right I have done it plenty of times. I have too much powder and primers on the brain.
Shoot me a PM and I'll send you the few I have Fed-Ex as I have a FedEx a few blocks away. It's on me. Been looking at them over 20 years and will never have any use for them.

Yeah, well, me too. I picked the worst possible time to satisfy my long standing big bore lust, obviously. I scratched the itch with a .45 Colt NMBK and then a .45-70 falling block (story elsewhere). Part of the fun was the hunt for components, with the understanding that resurrecting reloading would the only way to shoot. Not looking back a bit.
There's a goofy antiques hunters show on TV and their occasional saying is "the time to buy it is when you find it."
