I respectfully disagree. Mechanically I believe the accurate ones, are plenty accurate to get the most out of balistic performance of the cartridges they are chambered for.
Some are also surprisingly easy to shoot.
Im not much of a handgun shooter, but from a rest breaking clay pigeons at 100yds with my buddies scoped SBH is literally as easy as breaking the trigger smoothly. I havent gotten to take my SBH out past 100yds, but even with open sights clanging a 8" gong at 100 is easy.
I have a 6" RIA 10mm that i shoot about as well as my SBH.
Id really like to see someone whos a good shot wring that pistol out, as im pretty sure im leaving performance on the table.
My 10" browning buckmark will also out shoot most of the .22 rifles ive owned.
Then there are the handrifles, which are as mechanically accurate as their larger shoulder fired brethren.
Whether the shooter is willing to put in the time energy and money to master delivering bullets at distance with a handgun is another story, same as putting a cluster of shots in the A zone at high speed.
