what is the opinion on the CZ P07 ?
I have a chance to pick one up for $400 from a guy locally

it's a good gun. I added a cajun trigger kit to mine. It improved the double action a lot, the single action a little. I have a high grip, and the decocker kind of gets under my thumb. I use it as a suppressor host because it ran better for me than the p10, sp01, p09, and p01. That said, I prefer the p10 to the p07: The ergos and factory trigger are better.

Good gun, $400 in today's market is great.

No brainer, get it.

Is the one for sale a Gen 1 or 2?

Edit: good question. I still liked the Gen 1s fine too, but they are worth a bit less.

I like mine a lot, especially when I changed out the decocker to a manual safety. Great ergos, sights, and trigger. The Gen. 2 feels much more solid and substantial in your hand. If you can get one for $400 I would say "Do It"!

I think it's a gen 2 has forward slide serations , factory box and mags
He said he bought it new last year put 50 rounds down the pipe and decided to go with a vp9 instead
I do have a sp01 , P01 and several 75's but I don't have a CZ polymer or any polymer

I like mine. I don't know if I'd get it over something more interesting if I already owned a p01, though. Just note that P07 mags have been discontinued by CZ because P10 mags "fit well enough" which is a little annoying. The fact that the P07 and P10 mags aren't identical can really only be explained by an engineering bungle at a company where those are rare.

I have a P-07 Suppressor-Ready and it’s an excellent pistol. Perfectly reliable for me so far and very accurate. For a polymer-framed Glock 19ish-sized hammer-fired gun, I can’t think of a better option. Obviously the version I have makes a great suppressor host. This is the version I own:

The P-07-dedicated mags are listed for sale and in-stock on CZ-USA’s website, so are no longer discontinued (or likely never were):

Honestly, I don’t know why one would buy the dedicated P-07 mags, as the P-10C mags (which are marketed by CZ as for the P-10C and P-07) sell for about half the cost. The only difference between the P-10C/P-07 mags and the P-07-dedicated mags is the baseplate design. I’m not sure why they changed the baseplate design when the P-10C was introduced (maybe slightly thicker for increased durability?) but here are some photos showing the difference:

I can confirm that the P-10C/P-07 magazines work flawlessly in my P-07 (and are the majority of the mags I own for it).

I own the exact same P07 and both mags. Amazing deal for a high quality da/sa with threaded barrel. My preference is the flush fit p07 magazines, which do not come included any more, and are no longer sold anywhere. The baseplate fit IS worse with the P10 mags. It shoots fine with either, as it should -- no indexing occurs on the baseplate and the bodies are identical. It absolutely was an engineering failure to release two firearms roughly simultaneously with BARELY different mag wells though. If nothing else for the economy of scale that two firearms with fully interchangeable magazines brings.

The "discontinued by CZ" info is third hand info from at least one magazine distributor, so you may be right.

Edit: The flush fit p07 mags do appear to still be sold. Whoops.

Earlier this year I used up an old gift card on some factory CZ P10C/P07 magazines. Did some looking around online and found some at a really decent price. They fit and work perfectly in my P07.

My P07 is what I call a hammer fired Glock 19. I love it. If you look on the right side of the slide you'll see the 2 digit year stamped on it . It tells the years of manufacture.

The P07/09, IMO is a highly underrated pistol.
My 09 is probably the softest, smoothest and most accurate pistol I own, I feel it's softer shooting than my all steel Shadow 2 with heavy brass grips.

My only gripe is the lack luster grip texture.
