Much has been written here about Taurus customer service. As many of you know a whole new management team at Taurus USA took over in January 2020 their press release said that their priority was customer service.
Here's what I learned from my friend he sent his Taurus G3C to the Georgia assembly plant for service. It was sent priority mail so he knows when they got it .Four days after they got it they shipped it back! When it arrived everything was done right they even replaced a few parts that were not broken but just worn.
Okay so this is just one example but it seems to show that they are trying:D

I hope so, hope they are. Really wanting a GX4 and a G3(if they ever get rid of the safety).

Lefty

Glad to hear Taurus took care of it in a timely fashion. Currently have a TX22 that went back to Taurus, that I'm waiting to see how long repairs take.

My GX4 was missing the little takedown tool in the box, shot them an email and it was here within the week. Seems like their products and service are vastly improved.

Well that is encouraging to read. I had one of those nightmare repair issues back in 2018. It months to get a trigger spring fixed. I sold the gun and never bought another Taurus. I’m going to check the Taurus forum to see what owners are currently reporting. I report what I find out in this thread.

Just visited the Taurus forum. You do not need to be a member to read it. The number of reported problems with their guns has declined over the past few years. Most problems being reported now are related to poor build quality and poor customer service. Things appear to have improved there but I was left still being one who is not buying another Taurus. But my conclusion ought not guide anyone. If you wasn’t to look over the forum’s problems threads, the url below will take you there. Check the date of threads, and you will see that there are fewer reports than there were a few years back.

That is good to hear. I sent a TCP back to them in '14, took 3 months to get it back. Now, it worked great when I did get it back, but in the meantime there was little to no communication, never did find out what they had to do to it.

When I bought my TX22 over a year ago, I got one with a defective 1st gen barrel (They catch lead so much it destroys the rifling). They were scrambling to find another barrel producer to replace all the bad1st gen. barrels. They advised it would take about 4-6 weeks for the new vendor to catch up to the demand, apollogized and said they'd send me 2 free mags for the inconvenience. I got the new barrel in 6 weeks, with the mags. I also had to send it back later for a repair; they paid shipping, and replaced the slide too, because I shot the gun so much, there was worn off finish on the underside of the slide, not even visible. I had it back in less than 2 weeks from shipping there, back to my house. They are definetly comitting to great service.

Sorry, but correcting one problem after another is not good service. It us poor quality. Poor quality is Taurus’ weakness.

I only had to use their CS one time. The rear sight blade was wobbly on my 627. They said they will send me a whole rear sight. But it will take 6 months. Because that was when they were moving. I did fix mine with some Loc-tite. It's still holding up. The new sight did come though as promised.

They are, but quality minimizes the need for service. Taurus offer low budget quality and poor service. That is not a winner. It us a loser.

Outside of the TX-22 I bought, I will probably not buy another Taurus. But the quality on the TX is better than my Walther PPQ M2-22, which has been repaired twice, then replaced.

This is what we are talking about.

Warning, Taurus will not stand behind their products, nor will they be able to fix issues that affect reliability. I've had a m85 forcing cone they couldn't fix after 3 trips to factory I sold it at a loss. Pt145 was discontinued and then recalled, where Taurus literally told me they would not give it back if I sent it in and offered me half of what I paid for it. Sold it for a loss also. I was so sick of Taurus' bs that I vowed to never again buy one, and encourage anyone I could to do the same. Taurus is dead to me.

What guns specifically are people mostly saying had poor build quality?

Taurus is much like Kel Tec in some models are just plain better designed and built than others.

service and quality are 2 different things. This post is about service.
OP clearly posted this thread is about "Customer Service" ... since January of 2020.
Taurus customer service ... whole new management team at Taurus USA took over in January 2020 their press release said that their priority was customer service
If Taurus USA is working to improve customer service, talking about customer service experience prior to January 2020 won't help this thread much.

If you have customer service experience since January 2020, I would love to hear them.

(Personally, I am not happy about how Taurus handled the Mil Pro PT145 recall and chose to keep the pistol but that's for another thread discussion)

I did not audit the complaints although the semi autos drew the most complaints. The TX22 had a lot of complaints many of which were about defective barrels. Apparently Taurus shipped some a run of TX22s that bad defective barrels, meaning the bores were wrong. The bid complaint was that Raurus had no replacement barrels available an it took months the get one get one.

A friend of mine has owned one of their 357mag models, he still loves it after ~20 years. I've liked the looks of the Raging Bull in .41mag, but their reputation for quality and customer service has kept me from even looking at one to buy.

All gun makers will do that, knowingly ship bad product during times of insane demand because middle management wants to show product shipped, not quality product shipped.

The replacement barrels issue taking months to get done is also tied to demand. Taurus has orders from distributors for new guns, so all the barrels go to meet those orders until they're caught up.

So let me get this straight, Instead of Taurus taking care of customers who have brought and paid for their TX22 they were more concerned about taking care of their distributors. And this is good customer service? The barrel issue took forever to resolve, years. With so many other firearm companies available that offer equal or in most cases superior product and have ALWAYS had excellent customer service why even consider Taurus?

Your timeline is wrong. The 1st gen bad barrel thing was before "Insane demand". They had a bad vendor making the barrels.

Remember, Taurus is not Daniel Defense, they don't make every part in house.
