Wather's replacement of the broken slide on my P22 went above what I expected.

Full story: I let them know that I was not the original owner, that I had +/-2000 rounds through the gun, and that I bought the gun from a gun range with an unknown round count. And I asked for the cost of a replacement slide if it was not covered under warranty. They asked that I send the broken slide in (that was at my expense, $6.25, via USPS priority mail). Three days after they received it, I got an email notice that Walther was sending a package. The new replacement slide arrived yesterday, covered under their lifetime warranty, value including their shipping of just under $110.

While the P22 has its limitations, it is a fun little range plinker. Both experienced and new shooters I've taken to the range have had loads of fun with it, & it's my wife's favorite gun.

Bad customer service rightfully gets called out, so I felt obligated to give credit for good customer service. I bought the gun used, it likely had 10,000 plus rounds through it, & I would have gladly paid for a new slide; Walther made good on their lifetime warranty.

I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience!

As for the P22: I consider the POS to be Walther's (aka Umarex) biggest blunder, and the short time I owned one was enough to almost swear me off from Walther products entirely. Fortunately I did not, because their centerfire offerings are solid, but unless they've made major changes, I wouldn't own another P22 if it was given to me. Same as with the Sig Mosquito. Selling cheap pot-metal guns under your hard-earned brand is an exercise in stupidity.

Looks like you got a good one (lol - not even joking)!

I'm glad to hear of your experience. Now I know what to do when my P22 slide cracks.

Although I would rather have a Ruger SR22, I have had quite a bit of fun with my P22 as well. It had a lot of issues with failure to cycle properly when new, but seems to have smoothed out and has now become pretty reliable, so long as I stick to ammo with reasonable velocity.
