All Popular Calibers Have Been Outlawed. What Oddball/Obsolete Caliber Do You Carry

Well, I mentioned earlier about Presidents stopping imports of ammo from Russia……….Biden has banned the import of ammo from Russia for a year.

<SARCASM>Yes, and we will all sleep so much better and feel safer. Just look at how Clinton's importation bans improved things. Oh wait, I forgot to add sarcasm tags. </SARCASM>

I guess Ron White was correct in that you can't fix stupid. The sad part is some uninformed people will see this as a good move and believe it will reduce gun crime.

.32 for me. I wouldn't have to change my EDC setup. There are some really cool 32s out there that are reliable, effective, and most importantly (to me) fun to shoot.

22TCM9r feeds through a standard 9mm with only a barrel swap, I believe. Conversions were available for Glocks and Rocks (RIA) and both 1911 and CZ 75 format pistols are sold by Rock Island with parts to convert. I was buying them for $16/box of 50 before all the crap broke loose. Lots of fun, big fireball, defeats some armor, and it's a shame it took 5 pages to get to it. Highly recommended even if 9x19 is legal. ;)

This is all just hypothetical because I dreamed it up and I'd like to read opinions on different calibers. If you think this is dumb, please don't clutter the thread.

Ok since the world has been upside down since 2020, what weird, obsolete, oddball, goofy caliber do you chose to carry if all the mainstream popular calibers were outlawed?

No 9mm, 40S&W, 10mm, 45ACP, 380, 38Special, 357Mag, 44Mag.

Tell us your favorite oddball semiauto and revolver caliber and what's good about it. Some of us are not familiar with obsolete calibers so please include how powerful it is or what it closely compares to.

1)For semiautos I would pick the 45 GAP. It is almost identical to 45ACP and I like Glocks. Easy to reload with 45ACP dies and bullets. It's so useless it's a great caliber for a goofy world.

2)For revolvers I would pick 44 Special. It's big and slow but has the ability to use sharp edge wad cutters or Gold Dots loaded by Underwood that reliably expand. Also easy to reload.
If you want “old-disused” rounds/pistols, I, on occasion carry both of the following (have a lot of both “flavors” on hand):
9MM BROWNING LONG and/or 9MM LARGO.

I kinda want a 17 HMR Taurus revolver or a 22 Hornet version. A 32 ACP auto of some sort wouldn’t be bad. For a heavy hitter a 10mm is hard to beat. Maybe some Ruger only 45 Colt loads just for good measure.

44 special in a converted 5 shot smith and wesson model 66, for carry.
1911 converted to a custom 429 diameter chambering that looks like 45 auto,
41 magnum blackhawk, an Redhawk
45 colt Redhawk,
44 special flattop blackhawk.

.45 Black Powder Magnum. Wildcat cartridge based off of the .454 casull case for cartridge converted colt walker revolvers

I will go with 45 Colt because I have it in a rifle to go with two pistols. I also have the lead, molds, and other things to make my ammo, but today, of course, it is all about primers.

I have many 44 spl Revolvers I carry \ so that’s my preference

The 9x25 would be the Glock 19 conversion as I reload

Home Defense will be my 16” Marlin Jm 45 Colt

And my favorite rifle is my 375win… So I’d prefer that as well.

Beond those, My Double barrel 58cal Muzzloader, not exactly a common choice for Bp

I'd drop the 9x25 Dillon barrel in my Glock 40 MOS and start running my 10mm brass through a .357 SIG die...would that count if the headstamps still say 10mm Auto?
