I like Midway. I order a good bit from them. It's hard not to when they have essentials on clearance and run free shipping.

BUT, IMO there has been a notable decline in the last few months and it is because selecting UPS Ground no longer means a brown truck will show at your door up on time. Their economy shipping involves a hand-off to USPS for final delivery which always ends up in an unknown amount of delay, and usually terrible tracking information. Something I know has been going on for a long time, but just started happening with my Midway orders.

It's really hard to say whether Midway is actually responsible for the decline in delivery service. They are the one's negotiating rates with the carriers, and it is very possible they said we want the cheapest rates at the expense of good delivery. Could also be that UPS said pandemic F you, this is what you get.

At the very least, without assigning blame, I've seen consistent delays now that my recent orders are coming via USPS for final delivery. YMMV
Midway has been doing this for 4-5 years at least, basically depending on what you order. If there's ammunition, other ORM-D or hazmat stuff then UPS will deliver, otherwise its handed off to usps' less than stellar delivery service.

Never had a problem with MidayUSA..

Have spent more than the Mrs. would agree to and I respect their business as one Veteran who had an entrepreneur vision and has done well!

Correct. And when I order something that has to go by UPS all the way, I get it very quickly. If it gets handed off to USPS I can expect a 3-5 day delay.

“For optimum service, make sure there is at least one potentially hazardous item on every order” :)

I do think there is validity to your position, tho my last order got split shipments. The hazardous stuff showed up UPS direct, but some misc stuff did not. Sadly this means that you can’t game the system by adding a box of ammo to make your handguard or w/e show up on time. ‘murica

That’s strange because I’ve been “gaming” the system for a couple of years with a $3 box of 22LR to ensure my order comes UPS every time. It’s never failed. Of course the 22 ammo is now $9 to $12. Still worth not putting up with usps though.

That's been going on for years... trust me. They use styrofoam filler that gets pounded flat when 500 or 1000/pc bullet boxes start flying around inside. I've had boxes dribbling bullets while setting on the doorstep.

I wasn't aware Larry had stepped down, but it doesn't surprise me, nor does careless packaging and shipping.
Cabelas isn't any better when it comes to shipping bullets. The last two shipments(2x500 each) in oversized light boxes with skimpy plastic bubble filler arrived with torn boxes and loose bullets inside. I wondered how many were still rolling around in the UPS truck. I guess with free shipping I shouldn't complain.

No problems with Midway, but just about everything shipped is a gamble anymore. There are only so many drivers available these days. Sometimes a couple need a day off.
;)

That’s all true but the question is, is it happening organically or is the response to the plandemic a way to mandate BS to cause shortages to save the planet to cause equality to bring on a new “system” of losers wanting free crap? No tinfoil hat to see that that is exactly what’s happening. It goes double for anything gun related since 2A is the root of all evil according to some people.

Wish I could give ^^^^ five thumbs up.

Lucky you. I've had stuff come all the way across the country in two days and sit at the post office for two weeks.

If I am in hurry and need something right away, I'll drive the hour and pickup my order at Midway. I also live 20 minutes from Graf's Reloading Supplies.

But yes it is crazy when a package that goes UPS then to USP takes a week (or more) to go 60 miles.

I just got a hazmat order from Midway yesterday. I'm in Texas and it took two days!:what::thumbup: That's faster than in normal world times.

Maybe I order so much I'm on the good guy list?:D

They are running free shipping now and 17 round Magpul Glock mags are $10.01. And Lancer clear smoke mags are $12.01. It's hard for me to pass this stuff up. Hence my probable good guy list status!:D

Midway is my first stop for most hunting, firearms related items. Great company and they also donate to a lot of organizations.

Just placed another order, with free shipping. When ordering bullets, weight (and shipping charges) can add up fast. I try to synchronize bullet orders with free shipping, I take the free shipping off the price of the bullets in my head and it makes a big difference.

For the hell of it I wrote Midway two days ago about being on "notify" list for 18 months and never receiving an notification of availability.

They wrote back that supplies were scarce etc. I wrote back that all the points they made were valid but if there really was a list and they took names off the top, I should have come to the top at some point.

I did not hear back but the answer is they should eliminate this option for some items that will never be put out for notification if they will never get enough in stock, like primers. But they run their business, not me.

And they still remain a satisfactory source for me, not great but satisfactory.

Thanks for the idea. I may write them myself. Maybe if they hear from enough of us they will address the situation.

Has anyone noticed since Larry stepped down Midwayusa has gone way down hill? I used to order everything hunting, camping, shooting and sometimes even work boots from them. Never had a torn box, returned item, great packaging. Well I ordered a deer cart last week from them and opened it last night and immediatly noticed the box that was supposed to be stapled was re taped shut. I opened it and loose zip ties, loose bolts, 2 small boxes completely empty with tape on them. It appears the fabric straps are missing the grommets the bolts should go through. I am going to call them today and tell them I want a replacement ASAP and I am not paying shipping.

I know someone who ordered 1k bullets and the bullet box wasnt taped and opened inside the box and he lost quite a bit when they fell out of a hole in the corner of the box. I have recently got boxes that have no filler and stuff just falls around inside it.
I've placed three orders with them since late 2019. Never had any sort of issue at all. They delivered good products on time.

Well I got the cart put together and yeah, it was defentily used and returned. Scratches all over and missing hardware but after the last time of them sending me the wrong thing and then making me pay to ship it back I chose to chalk it up and keep the cart. I did save $65 compared to other places and defenitly wasnt paying $50 to send it back.

So, I did write them. I received the following response:

Dear ,
Thank you so much for your email. I am so sorry for the confusion and inconvenience of this whole matter! Our notify me option is up and running, however when signing up for notify me, it will put you in a que along with others who have signed up before you. In order to make it fair, and to try and help everyone to have a turn getting their hands on primers, we will only send out the amount of notify me alerts that there are products available. Then with the next shipment, those next in line will be notified. This does not mean that you cannot take advantage of being on the website early, as you can still purchase these items, but if there is a long que ahead of you in line to receive the next notify me, you may not receive it for the first few shipments. Please also check your Spam and Junk folders, as sometimes the email may end up there. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

If we can be of further assistance, we are available by live chat 7 days a week from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM CST. We are available by phone Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM CST or you may email us any time. Please note, we answer emails as quickly as possible, usually within 24 hours.

Thanks for Your Business!

MidwayUSA Customer Service

While the swift response was appreciated, the gist of it is that they are dancing in circles around the issue. From my understanding, the buyer who posted here about getting primers was not in "the queue", but saw the product on sale on the site and bought them. Others did the same and they quickly sold out, with no notification going out to those who were legitimately in the queue.

Sounds fair to me. (says the guy who swiped the primers!:D)

Just playin kirk.:) Seriously I never use the notification function because it never worked well enough anytime I tried it.

I don't mind that they sell primers to first come, first served. But they shouldn't promise they will notify people if they don't do it.
I agree. Based on the message they sent you, what a dumb system.

I never got the emails either. I just saw Hartkopf post the primers were available and bought a couple packages (LPP and MLPP).
