And the idiots are already out. Same for Christmas...must have been a lot of handguns and shotguns for presents.

And yes, this is a post about shooting. Irresponsibily so.

Most sound like hi-cap timed fire, not mad minute. Once in awhile, last few sound like milked trigger burn off. No rifle, at least not full caliber. Don't understand, load-shoot, reload-shoot...box of 50 at least.

Continued irresponsibility seems to be rampant. If all the common sense folks on THR didn't raise their kids to be this way..... I won't even go into social issues...just hope 2021 doesn't let the door hit it in the ass on the way out.

Hearing gunshots all around here in the “ghetto” of North Vegas.

Hoping to rounds come sailing through the walls tonight.

I live in the middle of Redneck land.

Shots and fireworks started about 6:45 and hasn’t let up at all; it’s now 11:30.

It’s been this way for my 31 years here - every 4th of July week and New Year’s Eve and day.

‘It’s obviously illegal to shoot firearms in the city as are the fireworks as well, but the cops all turn a blind eye.

Last night, New Years Eve, I started hearing the random firework go off.

As it got within a minute or two of midnight, I started hearing very closely timed explosions and mentioned to my wife it was gunfire, most likely .22 semi auto.

This is in a fairly closely packed affluent suburban environment. I can only hope the idiots were firing into the ground. I wasn’t amused.

Very quiet new years eve around here. Sometimes hear a few fireworks but last night heard none. But woke up this morning to the sound of shotguns. Which is normal around here this time of year. We back up to a bay on the south side of Lake Ontario with lots of marshland and state land and late duck season runs Nov. 27th to Jan. 2nd.

No gun shots here, at least none that I could ID for sure. And maybe not as many fireworks as usual. But its pretty common to hear shotgun fire out back of a morning. They flood the fields for Ducks and we can tell if they are having a good hunt.

It's dumping snow here right now, completely quiet- 8+" on the ground. Far cry from yesterday, when I watched hundreds of homes and businesses burn out of my kitchen window.

You must be from CO. Sorry for the bad weather caused calamities across this great country. 2021 will best be seen and remembered in our rearview mirror.

Shooting into the air to celebrate is not something that "gun people" -- least of all people on this board -- would do. The prevalence of this custom tells me that a lot of gun owners are not "gun people."

You would think that whoever does this would have the sense to fire into the ground rather than blindly into the air. But this is continuing proof that people have no sense.

This is not just an American phenomenon. They do it in Greece too (more at Easter than at New Year's) and every year innocent bystanders get injured or killed. Besides shooting guns, they set off "fireworks" made out of stolen dynamite. I myself had a couple of close calls on the receiving end of these things. A "firecracker" made out of dynamite works and sounds just like an "offensive" (concussion) grenade.

I live right near a military installation. I’m not sure what I heard last night but I can guarantee one thing… it was expensive. Sounded like fireworks but also seemed too dull and too distant, like when they do artillery qualifying.

I could have slept through the little bit of fireworks noise we had...if someone wasn't adamant I needed to stay awake to ring in the new year.

I live in semi-rural redneckville too, and typically get a couple hours worth of fireworks and random gunfire leading up until midnight. Seemed extra quiet this year, but idiots with guns isn't out of the ordinary around here in general. New Year is usually just a lot more of them.

If all the common sense folks on THR didn't raise their kids to be this way.....

It wouldn’t make any difference, we are outnumbered by people that are ignorant when it comes to gun safety and way outnumbered on people that do not take personal accountability of their actions as well as “law enforcement” that does not enforce the laws.

There are less than a quarter million registered users here and unfortunately too many of them are no longer with us. Millions of idiots out there.

Plenty of fireworks and gunshots. Random ones beginning at roughly 11 until the crescendo that lasted from 12 to about 12:30.

The old pointer wasn’t having a good night, she was bouncing around the bedroom the entire time.

Stay safe.

I live in a good part of St. Louis County and I heard quite a few rounds going off.
