Target camera options?

I just have someone stand next to my target.

Lemme guess ... the wifey?

This thread delivers.

At our range they have cameras every 100 meters from the 500 meter line to the 1000 meter line. You check-out your remote viewer at the counter (always feels like I'm at the putt putt golf course when I do) ... but they put a $300 hold on your card until it is returned in one piece.

Some of the guys on the bare lines do use drones though. Drones or they'll set-up their own LONGSHOTs or Caldwell LR Cameras. All the rich boys living in Hilton Head seem to have the fanciest toys when they drive over. I gotta admit though, the LONGSHOTs are nice.

I used the drone as an example of a cheap video camera that wireless TX the image. One that will not fly is trash to a lot of people despite the camera and TX still working.

For long range work im told the drone batteries become an issue.
In talking to the drone owners I know, batteries are always a batteries issue.
Line-of-sight is apparently an issue, as the designers of the drones presume they are flying in direct sight of operators, so the transmitter signal strength probably is the limiting factor.

And, apparently, they stop flying before any other failure (that is not a right-out-of-the box failure). So, walking a 4K or 5K camera out to near the target might not be a dumb idea.
Maybe.
Perhaps.
YMMV.

I own a drone. Never put it to this use though. Interesting thought, might have to try it out.
