Roundball fun with the 30-30

Figured I’d post this to make the story complete.
I was lucky enough to get a cottontail yesterday morning , unfortunately I didn’t have my 30-30 at the time so I did not use the roundball, but looking at the damage on the squirrel I’d be willing to shoot a coyote sized animal with it.

rabbit and squirrel braise in chicken stock, tomatoes, onions, castelvetrano olives, capers and a touch of fermented Calabrian chilies. Served over basmati rice.

ummmm ummmm ummmmh ! you FANCY! fermented chilles and bossman rice!

Well I got the scope mount in and mounted it to my 340 for cast load development as I like the Williams peep sight I have for it and want to keep this rifle with just irons. I got it sighted in yesterday and started testing my last few roundball loads and decided I’m not going to mess with a thing and just load them as I have been.
After sight in I was able to repeatedly place my shot on these 1” dots at 25yds. I was seated on the ground with a cheap monopod for a little extra support. Perfect small game load ready to go!
I’ve got enough buckshot left to load 40 more. Which should be enough to last me a while. Now to get ahold of a buckshot mold

hummmm, could be tighter

Perfect That’s how I took it lol. Cant wait to test more loads. Looks like we have some decent weather the next few days here I. W. Wa.
Yep, Sun came out today! SO EXCITED!

For anybody not From the PNW… Having a Sunny winter day = PARTY TIME or at lease talk a hike

is there room to stuff 2 balls in the case?
I’d have to say yes, the ball takes up very little of the case neck. That said it wouldn’t work for me as I use the case mouth to hold the ball in place. I’d be worried about one slipping down into the case.

You said it man. The clouds are just starting to break and let some light through down here! About to head next door and bang on some steel plates with my buddy. Got a new (old) set of walnut grips for my 41 mag Blackhawk in the mail today off eBay. They look 100x better than the pachmyer presentation grips that were on it.

Heck even cloudy but not raining is cause for celebration.

Thanks for invite, guess I’ll eat this smoke pork shoulder all by my self.

I did 2 in the neck before worked fine but never put it on paper, never shot game since we can only use one projectile in ny. Before dumping the powder I would use a lee crimp die just above the shoulder, to do this just put the case upside down in the top and crimp a little. Then load like normal.
