So I was looking through the thread here posted by @Toprudder. Just curious if any additional development work on the .429 DE has taken place, as that discussion is nearly two years old.
I contacted Hodgdon to see if they had done any load development, but they said they had not. They did not indicate if they had any plans to pursue it.
I’ll be trying out some of the loads that Toprudder suggested. But I’m also wondering about other powders, bullet weights, etc.
With a 10” barrel, factory ammo pushes a 240 gr. bullet to over 1800 fps. I’m wondering how fast we could push a 180 gr. XTP and still keep it stable. Nothing like having a .44 caliber varmint gun.
