Well, I decided to do a small “upgrade “ to my 10/22. I went with the stock Ruger extended magazine release, part # 90598 as IMO it’s aesthetically pleasing, well designed and functions perfectly. Also, it was very simple to install.
I like the basic factory extended which I bump forward with my trigger finger just ahead of the guard. Much better than the old rocker switch despite the uglier appearance.
when you say, “not sure if that is a keeper.” Are you referring to the Magpul stock and if so what don’t you like about it? I don’t have one but have been looking at them.

Yes the Magpul stock. The rifle just does not fit tightly inside the stock and rocks fore and aft. The stock uses a pad under the barrel and the fore end. You can remove the pad but then the rifle rocks. And it is kind of chunky and tactical inspired. I would prefer something lighter, sleeker.

Hogue overmolded... Super light and pretty rigid. My stainless model with bull bbl wears one. My other 10/22 is a 60s model and resides in its factory walnut stock that has been stripped and oiled properly.
Both of my 10/22s use an extended mag release. Neither are the trigger guard profile style. One came with the archangel ar15 disguise for 10/22s and one i dont remember where i got. Easy to grab the mag and use the thumb to squeeze the extended lever. Same basic design as @Skylerbone shows above.
