I have been casually looking for something in 22 Hornet, or K-Hornet, for some time; just waiting for the right rifle and time.
Something akin to that CZ would do nicely.

I try and exercise several of mine Weekly . Next week I'll run the Garands . Will also photo target results ,as well as the Debut of MY New Never fired 1943 M1 . Long story short My Platoon Sergent in VN ,gifted Me a brand new Un issued Springfield M1 as he was assigned to an Armory to finish out his tour . Seems he scrounged around and located #6 and Legally purchased them from requisition and I paid a whole dollar to make it legal with receipt . I've had it over #50 Years and I'm not getting any younger . Now I've also got a few DCM /CMP arsenal redo's and have shot those for decades . Yes the M1 came wrapped in cosmoline ,as I saw #4 of the #6 he bought . He kept one of the M1 D's a Winchester I believe .

I put about 100 rounds through my new GX4 with a Holosun 507K optic. This is my first pistol optic and getting comfortable and proficient using it. Also working out the best loads for this combo. I really like this setup. Great little pistol. Best wishes!

I spent a week fishing in that area for several consecutive years. That's where I learned the true meaning g of "bugging out".
I went back to the boat to get some gear out of the weather when I was overwhelmed. The ones that I didn't inhale were sucking my veins dry.
About 3hrs southwest of Ignace.

I had a pretty enjoyable afternoon. 22 shootaround with my old buddy and his son who were home visiting family.
It was an oil filter perforation party in front of the lime pile.
We shot mostly 22s including a couple ruger mks. My 1911-22, his lcp 22, my t/c 10/22 clone, his Henry and Winchester rifles.
We weren't really shooting for accuracy but a clean run with 10rds on 10 filters was not uncommon.
The lcp. The mk with rds, the 1911-22 and the Henry were very popular.
My friend's son is contemplating a compact 9mm for ccw, so we took a break and produced a hellcat, a sig 365, and a glock 43x.
After trying all three guns, he seemed to prefer the sig365. It has the best trigger....and is the smallest by a hair. The fact that he made a clean run on 10 filters his first try didn't hurt either!.
I suggested that he not overlook the glock as they have so many offerings in basically the same platform . At least I'm impressed with their guns and prices.
After our shootaround we told hunting stories over a few beers for a couple hours.
My buddy guided elk and mule hunts for a few seasons. My son guided archery whitetail hints for a few seasons...so we had multiple stories of hunters who were "experienced" .....but actually clueless.
My buddy's hunter who shot the wrong buck out of a group of mulies....and my son's hunter who climbed in the pre-dawn deerstand and happily sat down on the foot platform instead of the seat. It was so dark that son couldn't see, but knew something wasn't right. He climbed up with him and saw he was sitting on the platform. He flipped the padded seat down and said "wouldn't you be more comfortable sitting here?"
I good time was had. Hopefully we can get together this fall for a whitetail hunt from my new blind.

It is a cabin, you could live there!
Not today, but yesterday.
I have a 32 foot extension ladder that won't be used at home any more and I figured it could be used around deer camp.
Mentioned that to my friend, huntin' buddy and co-owner of the camp.
"Let's bring it up there this afternoon".
Since we have a private range there now, it has become a tradition to bring guns and ammo on every trip.
So off we go @ 5:30 P.M.
Scott brought 2 rifles, an old pump Remington 22LR which i don't recall the model and a synthetic stocked and scoped .22mag Ruger. (Me wants that!)
We didn't shoot those.......
The biting flies became bad again and toke a shower in bug dope. 25% deet, again........(black flies, mosquitoes,deer flies and horse flies, OH MY!)

I'll tell you what, It is a good pistol for $269 plus tax.2-18 round magazines and everything you see here.
It was comfortable to handle and shoot!
If it ever goes on sale again (at Dunham's) I may have to take a trip!
I brought these two.
My 2020 Python and a Ruger Mark IV Hunter.
Trying to burn up the Thunderbolts made me adjust the rear sight four clicks down.
I know, right, but we were shooting only 10 to 15 yards.
70 rounds through the Ruger lickety-split after that adjustment.
Only shot 24 rounds through the Colt.
My cast 158 grain bullets over 12.5 grains of 2400 in new Hornady cases touched off by CCI 550 primers.
I am really happy with this 357 revolver and load!

We were shooting steel.
Had fun, the weather was perfect, low humidity, in the 70's but the biting flies, ugh!

Broke it out today and decided to take a couple of photos ,before I pass a patch or 10 and oil the works . Yep I vacuum bagged it DRY ,except the bore .
The flash went off a couple of times before I switched it off ,as that washes the Green tinted Parkerizing and makes it look funny .
Anyway ALL matching #'s with a Birch array fleck stock . His M1 D was also a Birch stock . I do know from reading that mixed hardwood stocks were originally used ,as heat of production ramped up and what was available and Dry was used . I read somewhere only Walnut was used and other woods were restocked ,NOT true . Had a Good Friend way back in the day ,who was Pachmayr 's #1 Seat engraver . And Fred carried one in WWll ,that was Beech wood ,so I'll assume he would have known .
I added the sling as it was oil paper cosmoline wrapped with Dept. HQ designation # and DoD stock stamp # in addition to Armory inventory # . Unfortunately as hard as I tried the paper went south ,
things age eventually .

Finally got my lovely spouse out to the range; she hasn't shot in many years. She fired .22 pistol and rifle, and .38 Special revolver. She was really excited and asked when we can go again

I put new diodes in both of my red dot sights for competition. I Replaced my Railway 12 MOA dot on my 617 with a 3 MOA Fast Fire III AR. Groups tightened up enough that I'm glad I was told to try it.
On my Black Mamba I switched dots from 12 MOA to 6 MOA. I still get fast aquisition and give up nothing in the way of accuracy. I think this will be my new Steel Challenge gun.
I fired CCI Mini Mags in the Revolver and Norma Tac 22 in the Auto. 100% reliability on the Mamba and the 617 fired everything on the first strike but after only 4 reloads I had to bang the ejector rod to get the cases out.

I tested a few guns. Like so often, the adjustable rear sights were off. The rear sights of two guns were visibly misaligned, and I had returned it to the center on the S&W 745 and SIG P210-6. A Hammerli International was boringly easy and accurate but the surprise was the HW5. It has a rough spot in the middle of the barrel but at about 10 yards, the groups of all four guns were similiar, with the P210-6 a little better than the rest.

Three friends and I went out to shoot clays today. I was shooting my Benelli M2 Field. After shooting clays I shot a Remington Model 12 to test function after replacing the firing pin.

I shot a Mossberg Model 500 in 12ga with the 18 inch barrel. I've owned the shotgun for 35 years. Every once in a while I take it to the range and put 25 birdshot shells through it to refamilarize myself with its handling for self-defense purposes.
