A buddy of mine and I are comparing our setups for EDC and I need help settling the score-

My setup is a Springfield XD with tier1 tactical holster and a kore nylon belt with x5 buckle.

My buddy has a Glock 19 in a tier1 axis elite holster with TLR7. He wears a Crossbreed executive Leather belt.

I feel like we are a wash on the holster but the rest is the debate part.

It's a toss up. You both carry good CCW guns in decent holsters and a good belt. More importantly, do you both carry all the time you can?

It comes down to personal preference.
If you're both component and effective with your choice...then yeah, it's a wash.

The best gun is the one you have on you when you need it! Any other guns are completely worthless as carry pieces!

Which gun you should have on you when you need it is the one that works best for you (not the one that works best for your buddy).

Anything past this us just a silly meaningless argument.

If you really want to compare whose carry piece is the best then it will come down to how often each of you carry. Carrying when you think you will need it is stupid! Carrying when you don't think you will need it is the only wise choice.

The grip safety on the XD is a deal breaker for me. Those are far more likely to prevent the gun from firing when you really need it to fire than to prevent an accidental discharge. I owned one for a while and other than that I liked them. But I won't buy another

Even a 1911 would be a better gun without the grip safety and it is a much better design than the one XD uses. Back in the day when the 1911 was more popular for carry many serious shooters deactivated, or at least taped down the grip safety on them for that very reason.

I do not shoot glocks well, I however find myself to be much more in line with the ergos of the xd, and much more accurate with them.

So it's more important that the gun in question fits you.

Lots of folks say that, but I’ve shot several thousand rounds through XD’s and never had a failure. I have friends who prefer XDms and have shot many thousands of rounds without issues.

I’m generally a Glock guy, but the XD is a proven gun based on the real life use I’ve seen.

Certainly not going to settle any debates on an internet forum. For you specifically, I'd recommend taking your pistol out and working a bunch of one handed drills, particularly with your non dominant hand. May help settle things for you.

That’s one way. Learning to stop worrying about who has the better setup and focusing on what works for one’s self would be another.

Both guns are on a gov banned list somewhere in the USA so there both mostly likely GREAT.

It may not even be the guns fault, but it can maybe possibly, perhaps, accept a large cartridge feeding devices.

Haha, my morning homage to humor:p
