I dehydrate easily…

It would be awful if some malcontent bumped their head on it

:)

A few years ago a guy I was working with dropped the bum that grabbed him in the parking lot with a stainless steel coffee cup. The cup had a pretty good sized dent in it. I honestly haven't had a problem but working in Atlanta (we usually start in the pre-dawn hours) can be a bit adventurous.

The only items that I truly “EDC” are a Crawford-made Kasper folding knife, and ID holder, with a ball chain, that holds my Honorably Retired ID and qual card, my drivers license, and my health plan ID card. My firearms, and their carry methods, vary, depending upon whether I am wearing trousers with belt loops, and vary due to the extreme differences in weather, and, the “season,” which is independent of the weather. Notably, hot weather does not mean that I carry smaller weapons, but that I must carry them differently. It does help that the local “Hijacking Season*” generally coincides with cooler weather, which facilitates carrying a substantial pistol OWB on the hip, covered with an open-front cover garment that is constructed of substantial materials.

*In the police jargon at Houston PD, in Texas, a “hijacker” is any armed robber. Hijacking Season generally coincides with the fall/winter holidays, though since about 2005, it has become less-well-defined, in a bad way.

DFW too. And, bad guys are “Hooks”. Suspicious people are “Hinky”.

I can’t imagine what happened to Houston post 2005…I recall something about your population increased….and, Cajun food became more popular.

There is a lot of Truth in this meme.

Before I retired I went to work every night with a Glock 19, two reloads, a Multitool, OC, a Buck Knife, a "Tactical" knife, an IFAK. and Yada, Yada, Yada.

Now I'm retired and 90% of the time that I leave the house I'm either going to the Gym or the VA. and ^ this^ is what I'm wearing. The new Army AFPT pants and a hoodie.

This has become my new EDC

A cheap water bottle (that happened after I found out it cost 50 bucks to replace my Hydro Flask after I left it behind once).

My 7 dollar Ozark Trail fanny pack.

Phone charger and earphones (apparently wearing your hearing aids and sweating on them while you're working out is bad for them).

Notebook for my weightlifting and my personal fitness plan from Planet Fitness.

Gym lock.

OC spray

SAK Climber

Minimalist wallet from REI

Glock 43 (124 grain Speer Gold Dots) and one reload.

I really should carry a flashlight but I'm usually home by 4:00 in the afternoon.

And of course it wouldn't be an EDC picture without my

Day

For some reason I always thought referring to EDC was just your firearms and/or blades.
However, I see a lot of tactical chapstick tactical pennies and other things like that. What about tactical insulin pumps pacemakers and hearing aids?

EDC means Every Day Carry. There's more to preparedness than a gun or a knife.

I know what it stands for and I also know that it was generally accepted it meant CCW items. If we're going to encompass being prepared for come what may we should probably carry a book bag with an AED in it

How about we prepare for the things we're most likely to encounter?

Alternatively, you can start your own forum and set your own parameters

You are correct I imagine far more people suffer from chapped lips and lack of change in their pocket then from heart disease.

I'd be willing to bet that more some people suffer from undiagnosed heart disease.

But the reality is I've been CPR certified since 1990. And the only time I've ever seen a defibrillator used was actually in an ER during a code and the patient died.

I was certified to use one during my work life but, as I said previously, I've never actually seen one used in the field

I really try to keep my EDC to things I use.
I carry additional items in my day pack, hunting bag, and my pickup/suv.

Night stand last night while traveling. I have three holsters with me. A sticky, OWD Forbus, and a IWB Galco. The 45acp and holster are the only things that seem to change. Still looking for that perfect carry handgun  and holster. My favorite is a j frame in a pocket holster....
