Looks factory to me, lol. Nice work.
Hey thanks! I was glad I didn't have to shave down the wood on the stock to get it to fit, but I am not sure how I feel about the gap between the mount and the stock. I's probably for the best, in-case I ever want to put a different stock on or if the wood expands.

Excellent job. You lucked out with the serial number placement. Sometimes the numbers are further back on the receiver. I would put that rifle in a Choate OD Green Dragunov stock now.

I did luck out indeed. As it is I partially covered the last number but it should be fine.

As for the green Choate Dragunov stock….in my state that puts me at risk of having too many features on my rifle….plus after having spent so much on the scope I need to go back to saving up.

Okay, I'm in my safe place so I can look at your pictures now. Oh, that's not bad.

I have my SKS red dot on the typical rear cover mount, I know it's not the best for accuracy.

Looking forward to a range report to hear how your set up shoots!

Well I’m ashamed that it took me two boxes of Wolf Ammunition to get anywhere near cited in. I had only brought a few rounds of brass case geco ammo and that stuff groups pretty well. Not done sighting it in unfortunately but I learned that even in an SKS ammunition can make a pretty big difference.

There was a crapton of commercial norinco sks's with different kinds of side rails drilled and tapped to the receiver from the factory in China. If it's a commercial sks I've increasingly stopped carrying what happens to those.
I had an SKS with the factory rail, but at the time (early 90s), there were no matching mounts around to fit the nonstandard rail- and no real internet to search for one anyway. It wasn't until years after I sold that gun that I saw one of the mounts for sale on the web. :p

This particular mount is made by Molot and sold by Kalinka optics.

I respectfully disagree that there were any “factory” Chinese SKS scopes, even for commercial markets. Certainly there were a couple of importers that added scope mounts, including Navy Arms.
