Fellas, any good portable shooting bench/chair setups you would recommend. Need something relatively lightweight and compact to teach some people to shoot off. I use a regular fold out table and stool for my own setup ,but after something a bit more portable as I am travelling to do this. Might be an ongoing thing, so figure something I can just pull out the car will make life easier. Not shooting match lever either, just basics of grouping at 25-100 yards.

I looked for some photos of one RC Model made but looks like he posted them on photobucket and they are holding them hostage despite his passing. IIRC it used folding legs on plywood and if you added a slot to the top, to act as a carry handle, this would be pretty close. If light and easy is the goal, this one is 14 lbs.

My portable bench isn’t very big but it is heavy female NPT couplers were in the form when the concrete was poured, so the feet can be removed and it’s only a few inches thick.

The only portable bench I’ve used that felt like a “real” bench. As far as stability goes.

‎Birchwood Casey Bc - Xtreme Shooting Bench
Amazon sells this, was showing for under $120.

I bought a Caldwell Stable Table about three weeks ago. Solid and very high quality. Should have bought one a long time ago. It weighs 60 pounds and breaks down easily with out tools for transport. The whole bench fits easily on the back rack of my ATV. Only takes a few minutes to assemble or break it down.

I made one out of 3/4" plywood and some folding legs. I wouldn't shoot benchrest from it, but I have shot many, many groups off of it and some pretty darn small ones, too. Also doubles as a Christmas present wrapping table in the winter, too.

I use one of these for prairie dogging. Works great

I use a black & decker workmate with piece of plywood and fold out stool !

Good idea! Could you post a pic please? The workmates are really stout but foldable and portable. I am having a hard time picturing how you would sit behind one to shoot though?

I built a version of this one:

https://www.stukeysbenches.com/

I used 2x2 square tubing resting in 2.5x2.5 square tubing pockets held by multiple set screws. It allows for leg adjustment on uneven terrain.

I used 5/4 deck boards for the top. Somewhat heavy but breaks down small enough to fit in any car.

Perhaps more "moveable" than "portable," made from vintage 2X6's and 2X8's. Top is 36"X36" with an 18"X18" cutout, legs are 30". It is very heavy. Stool is made from an implement seat, wagon axle skein, and disk blade. The 5' deep snowdrift behind should be gone by 4th of July.

I have found the Rick Jamison bench is the best blend of portability and stability.

I bought the welded angled leg brackets from a guy out of Idaho on eBay for $50 a set of three.

Legs got bought, cut, and threaded for free with purchase at Home Depot.

I did NOT like using indoor/outdoor carpet on the top… gives your elbows rug burn with even light recoiling rifles. One of these days I’m going to redo the top with linoleum.
