now for the sad part... only allowed to buy 200. ar least the price wasn't so bad. $5.19/100 remington spp from sportsman's warehouse. it just happened to be on my way. i am not going to drive an hour round trip to see if i can buy 200 more tomorrow.
Wow. That's a very reasonable price compared to any others I've seen lately.

The last 1K LRP I bought cost $30, so what has changed? something smells south of cheese.

Sportsmans in Morgantown, WV, had LPM recently for $6.12 per hundred, limit 200 per customer per day. Since my GF and I were up there for three days for doctors appointments, I was able to pick up quite a few.

I wouldn't make the 3 1/2 hour drive up there just for primers but always stop in when we are up there.

Last primers I bought here (Beckley, WV) were $100/1000, with a single brick limit.

250 primers for $160? that is crazy. how much were the LRMP prepandemic?

When I looked at them that was the first thing that stood out! I knew there were 1000 but it did make me look twice. Lol

I've never had anything but the blue box CCi but had seen pics of this packaging here and there.
$45 was shipping/hazmat which is just as ridiculous as the primer price.

My buddy just bought a new .300 WM rifle and wanted them. He was ready to spend way more on gunbroker. He's just happy to have them.

The last brick of primers I bought were CCI SRM #450 (I've bought 2000 LR/LRM a couple sleeves at a time over the last year) at the very start of this latest shortage for $40/1000.

I got grief from my wife because they were too expensive!

I've seen this myself with Sportsman's Warehouse in my area. They have been charging $5.00 or so per 100 for primers in the past few months, with limits. This shows me that the wholesale cost for primers are lower, but most of the retailers are still hitting the customer hard. I have no problem paying $50.00 or so per M for primers, but this $80.00 upwards is getting old when the wholesale cost has come down, otherwise Sportsman's Warehouse wouldn't be doing this.

Luckily for me, I stocked up on primers, powders and bullets in 2013 when Obama got reelected. Recently, a friend gifted me about 10,000 of assorted primers. I'm good for a long time. I just hate us getting hosed by the retailers.

One of my LGSs actually had small rifle primers, he had two and a half cases of them for $400.00 a case. $80.00 a thousand.
They were Guinex brand.
Today is my first day back to work in 6 months, I have some bills to pay or I would have bought a couple thousand.
It's always the right thing at the wrong time. Sigh!!
That's a good price.

The best I'd seen previously was $450 for 5k...that included shipping and HazMat.

A local gun shop during the weekend had CCI and Winchester primers of most flavors. They were priced @$69 for standard primers and @$72 for magnum primers. This was when they opened at 11:00am and by Noon they were all gone. I didn't count them but I think there were ~100 bricks of 1,000.

There were SPP and LPP but no magnum handgun primers.
The rifle primers were all 4 types, SRP and SRMP and the same with the large rifle primers.
There were no CCI benchrest, #34 or #41 primers.

That was the largest number and widest variant of primers I've seen in many years. It was essentially impressive because they were all American made primers, not from other countries.

I was in an Academy sports store in a town about 300 miles from home and much to my surprise they had a fairly nice stock of primers, including small rifle primers, for $8.99 per 100. I'll dosclose that location as soon as I buy a few boxes. :D

Is reloading still worth it at these primer prices. Maybe not plinking ammo. I can understand harder to find calibers

It depends on the shooters expectations and shooting habits. For those who load 30 rounds magazines in their AR's then empty them as fast as possible, no reloading really doesn't make much sense and any bulk ammo will do. But for those who hunt big game or compete and need quality ammunition, handloading is a necessity.

Depends on what the definition of is, is.

In this instance “worth”. If worth means monetary cost, then maybe yes, maybe no. But in another thread (check it out) there’s a poll on how long folks have been reloading. Some are answering over 30 years. Even 50. I’m confident they feel it’s well worth it. It’s not monetized perhaps but who the heck cares (as I presume to speak for them). My gosh they have such fond memories of doing it with Dad or for a son. Wow! That’s worth it.

I personally didn’t start nor do I continue nor would I quit reloading for cost related issues (low or high). I will shoot regardless of cost and will reload to shoot. It’s worth that much to me.

I started to provide myself consistent availability of ammo, but learned nearly immediately I really enjoy it. It’s an entertaining and challenging hobby in itself and “worth” every minute I spend doing it.

It's worth it to me for what I load. 38spcl, 357mag, 45acp, 480Ruger, and 45Colt. I can reload all these for less than the cost of factory, and shoot them whenever I want. For 223rem I may or may not be saving money.

But I still enjoy reloading, so even at current component prices I'll keep doing it.

Yup, matches my philosophy. It's fun. Hard to put a price on fun, whether it's reloading, racing cars or whatever.
