I shoot 0.6 MOA at 500 yards. Believe it or not.

I’m gonna circle this back, hard, to the original paradigm of this thread: shooting at 1 mile.

If all of the last two pages is true, and this rifle and ammo is shooting something between .3-.4moa at 500 and 700 yards… which load is shooting that small? The FGMM factory ammo, or your new 38.9grn 2495 behind 168 ELD’s?

Speed is a problem for reaching a mile with either, but especially with your handloads.

Work up a faster load in the next couple of weeks before the new target is up, and then the day after your range hangs the 1 mile target, just go shoot it. Mission accomplished. Anyone holding sub-half MOA at 700yrds won’t have trouble banging steel at any public range at 1 mile - as long as their bullet doesn’t spit the bit in transonic transition.

I'm at the range right now shooting 500 yards. They are having a competition on the longer range. How do I prove so my shots are going in the red at 500?

In another hour or two the longer range will be open. But I'll prove 500 right now.

The hell. I'm asking how to show proof. Even with an 8mph wind I'm still hitting nothing but red at 500. Sorry but it's easy.

This.

A 6.5 Creedmoor will be better than a 308 at 1 mile, but that doesnt mean it's a good 1 mile cartridge. When I shot the mile with my friends, our 6.5s required over 24 mils of elevation adjustment to hit a mile. There was VERY little wind and it was still moving those 140 and 147 ELD-M bullets around at that distance. In contrast the 300 Wins were running around 18 mils of elevation and the wind holds were still on the target (30 inch plate).

Just for comparison. I shot this 3 shot group at 500 yards with my AI. I thought it was good enough to take a picture of and post it online with pride. Im not a competitor like some of these guys but Ive been shooting precision rifles for about 20 years and have some training and real world experience with them. My set up isnt exactly an off the shelf piece either. You are saying that hitting a target this size, or even smaller, is "easy" with a budget gun.

It's kinda like signing up on a racing forum and asking what car you should buy to get into racing. Then a few months later posting lap times that actual seasoned racing drivers are putting down and saying you did it in a stock Miata on street tires. Maybe you are being scouted by McClaren for the F1 team, but dont expect the guys who have been doing it for a while to blindly believe that.

I'll video my walk out to 500 yards and show the target. Is that sufficient?

The upload is too large. Where do I post the video of proof positive accuracy at 500 yards with an 8mph wind? I have video of the entire thing.

This is exactly 8 rounds. The chucks came out that supported the target straight up and I didn't want to ruin my grouping. Without the wind I believe I would have done much better.

But if you guys have a place where I can post the videos I'll be more then happy

No need to hide the targets behind the best one, they all count.

I could care less about this thread. But your pictures prove nothing for all we know you could have shot at 50 yards. Not saying you did but the pictures are worthless

I want the criticism now. It doesn't get any more proof positive then that.

1. Did you really put that music/sound on there? haha
2. That video doesnt prove anything.
3. Why does Google Earth measure that range at 365 meters from the shooting positions to the rear berm?

Yep. I knew there would be something. The distance. No idea. But I know for a fact that the far back. As far back as you can go is 500 yards. Why would a range stop at 399 yards? Makes no sense.

No that's actually pretty suspect since you asked. All that really proves is you traveled 500 yards twice once to put it up and once to film it,
Shows nothing about how or when or at what distance they were made.

I don't even care anymore. People asked for proof and I supplied proof. You want to not believe me then fine. At the end of the day I can shoot 0.6 MOA at 500 yards. And yeah that's with my own special blend of Frankenstein reloads that I just learned how to do and a 308 rifle I've only owned for a few months.
