I'm surprised Midway was able to hold out this long. They finally raised their minimum purchase to $59 from $49. I've been thinking for a while how I would still be happy with a $69 or $79 minimum. I'm not sure if the minimum changes depending on location though? I'm in Texas and seeing the increase.

There is no such thing as "fee" shipping. It is already added to the price of the products and is only applied on regular price items

It is a tool to have consumers add just one more little thing to go over minimum.:uhoh:

Like Amazon and all the products priced at $24.99

This must be a pretty recent change, then. I got the $49 free shipping around the first of the month, which saved quite a bit when added to Midway's Birthday Pricing. The only thing I don't like, is that they don't offer free shipping on reloading components and ammo. I managed to only pay about $5 shipping on an order of over $125 that included cast bullets, dies, and other things, so I'm fairly happy overall. Graf & Son's has a flat rate shipping of $12.99 for everything, but their prices are slightly higher overall.

It is a very effective incentive for me. I tripped the $200 "shipping included" trigger at SGAmmo recently, and called my brother to see if he needed anything shipped at no extra cost. Added $160 to my order and I am sure Sam and Lala didn't mind one bit. It has resulted in me adding another knife to orders at BladeHQ and Smokey Mountain Knife Works on more than one occasion, darn it! ;)

I got the email that "Free Shipping is Back" today with a minimum of $59.00. I contacted them right away that I didn't like it and I'll be ignoring the "Free Shipping" emails from now on. I remember when Midway had occasional free shipping days with no minimum. Haven't seen those for some time. Everyone should protest. Midway's inbox should be full of complaints. Do nothing and they'll raise it higher as long as we let them get away with it.

We're being rolled my friends... even by the so-called legitimate vendors like Midway. Look around and you'll find better deals elsewhere even without free shipping. Midway is not the working man's friend anymore. Their prices aren't the best anymore. Any higher and they'll be as expensive as Brownells! :eek:o_O

I received free shipping on my Norma ammo order over $149. I bought a 7 bricks of Norma Match 22 that was marked down from $7.99 to. $4.65. A good deal.

Lots of stuff going on in the world but the one thing we should get worked up about is Midway’s shipping policy!

^^^ This is a perfect argument that we shouldn't bother with any topic on gun forums at all. It's not important. We all know what we need to know. I guess this is goodbye. I'm really gonna miss you guys and gals. :(

Some stores with gun gear offer it at $99.00.

Be practical? Unless gear on my invoice is actually on my shopping list, I'm not real tempted unless my total is within about five bucks.

Midway does have a wish list. I've got a tool saved on it.

Brownells, Midway, Grafs, Midsouth, Target Sports, SGAmmo, and Midwest Gun Works are nearly the only places I buy this kind of stuff from.

Lately, it’s only been ammo and AR components. I shop around based on what they have in stock these days and not so much their prices or shipping costs.

If there were no minimum shipping deals or promo codes it wouldn’t effect my purchases too much.

If this is your reaction to Midway raising the minimum for free shipping by $10, I'd hate to see how you handle actual turmoil, stress and hardship in your life.

If you've got your Midway cart loaded with $49 worth of merchandise, but that extra $10 to get free shipping is going to cause you to not be able to put gas in your car or buy shoes for your kids...PM me and I'll send you $10 via either PP or money order (you're choice).

If you think retailers don't think long and hard about raising prices, you may be missing something. Every increase does have potential for reducing sales and therefore profits. However, when your cost of acquisition is rising as it does during inflationary times, and your shipping costs are rising because of the scarcity, cost, and loss of skilled labor, you are in a double bind and something must change or cash needed for payroll and stocking will run out. Banks, like four wheel drive, just allow you to get stuck a little farther from actual help.

I don't like to pay more but if I am totally driven by lowest cost and don't care about the big picture or the long game, I am partially responsible for the mess we are in.

In the time it takes for members here to complain about me complaining about Midway, you could email Midway and voice your displeasure with their new free shipping "deal." The "New Deal" is a 20% increase over what amount we had to buy before for free shipping. That's unacceptable. The costs will keep creeping up as long as you do nothing. Below is the link to contact them. I already did. I told them I can already buy many items for less elsewhere without free shipping... and that's the truth.

I am not as altruistic as you. I am not interested in Midway's problems. I bought most of my equipment from them over the years but no more. My beef is that they have no notification system for "out of stock items." I have complained but get BS answers.

That is indefensible! Seems like they stopped doing what made them successful even before Potterfield left. There are plenty of alternatives to Midway, Cabelas and others that have changed hands and missions. I am not trying to defend them, but noting the pressure that all retailers are under these days. Do business with folks you like and don't worry about the rest.

Thanks for the head's up.
Have a merry Christmas.

When I started buying from Midway back in 1988 there was free shipping on every order. Sometime in the late 90s they instituted a $25 minimum, then at some point free shipping became something that only happened on special occasions.

I still buy a lot of stuff from Midway.

Won't stop me from shopping at Midway. With all the inflation in the economy, calling the policy change "indefensible" shows lack of current events awareness. Now that's indefensible.....

I still see the "Notify Me" option on out of stock items.

I bought a lot of stuff from Midway over the years for always good pricing and free shipping. Things have changed and I don't buy much from them any longer. They just got to big for their britches I guess. Just like Brownells sometimes they have what you need when no one else does. I still check prices with them and sometimes order. Brownells ticked me off long ago on an ammo order that was a smoking deal. Used coupons, stuff was in stock, order went through and confirmed. A few days later it shows up as canceled with no explanation whatsoever. I never got an answer from them by calling or email. My guess is they did not want to let it go for the price...

You didn't read the message I was responding to. That was the statement that they do not inform when items are out of stock. If you read up stream you realize that I was trying to explain why changes, especially with shipping costs, are a fact of life. They know what's in stock every minute, and there is no excuse for failure to disclose that fact before one orders.
