I am planning to order a Boyd's pro-varmint stock for a Howa mini action build that I am putting together. They offer a pillar bedding option for $62. On the few other Boyds stocks I have used, I have just bedded with JB weld with good results. But was already thinking I would do pillars on this one, and then bed around the back and sides of the recoil lug. The front action screw goes into the recoil lug, so the lug would be sitting on the pillar.
I can do that for less than $62 so I am leaning towards skipping it, but I wanted to see if anyone had ordered a stock with this option and had opinions on whether they did it particularly well (or poorly). They don't seem to have any photos or anything on their site.
