Paul Harrell on the Colt Walker (for beginners)

Oh man, the Enfields and Webleys are beautiful in their ugliness. I love the look of them.
It’s hard for me to understand how the country which produces Boss, Gibbs, Rigby, Ross, H&H, Purdey, and other best works of gunsmiths art (I’d include the Enfield military muskets and rifles in this as well) yet cannot muster up even one revolver (or semi auto for that matter) that approaches the elegance and simple beauty of the Colt Army or percussion revolvers. Instead they give us that ^^^ brutish nasty little gun…

Those make a glock look kinda good. Notice I said "kinda". :neener:

So does a Hi Point.
here him shooting a 4 bore

here him on a 2 bore, rifle & pistol set

When I had my forum the guy that built the Double Deuce and Little Deuce, Colin Stolzer was a member when he was building the DD. That was an exciting build to follow. The man that had them built died a few years ago and that's how they ended up at auction.

Truth to that. I guess it's just a British "thing". The Bulldog is a very ugly dog, but the Brits like them. The SMLE could be considered an ugly gun, but I see the beauty in it. Some old cars are pretty ugly, or were in their day, but now when restored are beautiful, in a unique way. ? Hope that made sense. And of course, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". That is truth. The Colts, S&Ws, etc. are "elegant" guns for sure. But I still say the Webleys are beautiful in kind of a "steam punk" or "rat-rod" kind of way. !! :)

I had a Webley once but somebody had shortened the barrel on it to 4 inches. I didn't keep it long. The SMLE is an ugly gun. You can't even sporterize them and make them look decent. It looks like lipstick on a pigs butt. As for old cars, I used to think the 58 Chevy was the ugliest thing to roll out of Detroit but compared to todays cars they're gorgeous.

Truth. I think the SMLE must be an ugly gun, although it's beautiful to me. Same with all the Webleys, I can understand the ugliness others see, but I see just plain coolness.

When I was a kid, me and my buddies lived Army, played Army, spent whole days playing with our plastic Army men, and watched war movies anytime we could. From the first time I saw a SMLE, I had to have one...although that didn't happen until I was about 30. Did have a sporterized No.4 before that. The first time I ever saw a SMLE, I thought it was the coolest looking thing on the planet. !!!

Mine was "Black Powder Times". I tried to keep it traditional only. It did really well for a few years but the server went down for almost a week and it just went downhill from there.
Tell you what! your smarter then I thought! I always wonder who I’m communicating with here.

I don't give a tinkers damn about the mummy wrap. If you leave it on there you don't know what you've got. Basically you're paying for some old paper.
and that’s why I said your smarter than I thought! $1200 is expensive for a wall hanger

If I got some packing-paper, and wrapped up one of my SMLEs in it...would it be worth $1200? That might be a better deal. However, I'd pay $200.00 for one. That would be a pretty good deal. And I could start my wood stove fires with the paper. Win-Win!

He may be smarter than you thought...but I'm only half as dumb as I look. So there.
NOW THAT FUNNY!

I’m not smart but I’m a talker and have talked my way into jobs I’m way under qualified.

Talk my way into a Job at Stanford and The Smithsonian! got fired from one and quite the other
