Man Busted With Massive Weapons Cache

So I am wondering about the OP's headline for this thread.

He uses the term "massive" but in searching the story he linked I do not find the word massive used at all.

was wearing a bullet-proof vest and carrying one of the assault rifles — customized to shoot .50-caliber rounds — when police arrested him after a chase and a scuffle in a local trailer park

Bohica... among others.

It's possible. Probably .50 Beo as mentioned, but it's certainly possible it was BMG.
The news link says the type usually mounted in a vehicle.
How the heck do you hide a Bohica under a jacket? I guess if the barrel was chopped. My bet is that the Prosecutor and LE want to blow this into as big a weapons deal as they can. That's just speculation but it seems the government really wants to soft pedal any Mideastern connection and blow up any weapons charges.

Just looking at the linked article from the Star Ledger: "A U.S. Navy spokesman, Lt. Justin Cole, said Woodson joined the service in February 1988 and served aboard the USS Orion, a submarine tender, before deserting in April 1989. It would be eight years before he was returned to Navy custody, Cole said. A month later, in August 1997, Woodson was discharged."

Seems it's more likely than not he is prohibited from owning any firearms anywhere in the U.S.

The article does mention the headdress: "Mixed in among Woodson’s belongings, the prosecutor said, was a Middle Eastern, red-and-white traditional headdress."

Sooo... I wonder where in the threat continuum we put this one? Just another felon with guns? A wannabe jihadi, like Mr. Muhammad, who shot up a recruiting station killing one? Another "soldier of Allah" with some ties to Al Qaeda like Dr. Hasan? Or a full on trained up terr. like Mutallab? The update http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/01/virginia_man_with_weapons_cach.html says "move along, no terrorism to see here". But then the fruit of kaboom bomber was originally called a lone nut by our executive branch, that also initially said "the system worked".

Two rifles and a flare gun are a 'massive' weapons cache...

I wonder what they would call the Patton and two Sherman tanks owned by the guy east of Rensselaer? Or the guy over in Pulaski county that has a restored WWII Lightning aircraft? It would appear the public's 'right to know' has been replaced by 'you can fool some of the people some of the time.'

Again, only the OP used the term "massive". The media story uses the terms "trove" and "battery', and "cache".

Trove is probably right, since that indicates value and these sound like expensive firearms.

Battery is pretty goofy though.

perhaps:scrutiny: they meant massive as in big and heavy

is he having a bad eye day or did he get that look resisting arrest?

---8 years ago he deserted. how could the military not find someone that big unless they were not looking
home land insecurity is what we are paying big time for.

I'm just glad media attention is temporarily diverted from RKBA law abiding citizens to a real dirtbag with a "massive weapons cache".

Isn't the headress a shemagh? A lot of our troops overseas wear them around their necks and pull them up as needed.

Note that he has been wanted by the Navy for 8 years on the charge of desertion.

That makes him ineligible to have any of that stuff.

So yes, the typical media spin is on but we have to be careful to not get too worked up looking for an anti gun agenda here, this is a very bad guy who needed to be caught.
There are plenty of wanted bad guys walking around with guns & ammunition, this is an overt effort at INFLATING the issue into something else entirely...

just pure media sensationalism. Why can't the media do what they're paid to do/supposed to do and that is "report the news in an unbiased and honest manner"?

Seriously, wow. Just wow. Go back and read again, I've posted this like 4 times in this thread.

THE ONLY PERSON TO USE THE WORD MASSIVE WAS THE OP, NOT THE MEDIA

The media story he linked does not use that word at all.

There are plenty of things to get upset with the media over this, but get the facts straight first.

100-200 rifles, which would count as massive for a single person to possess.

There are quite a few members here with between 100 and 200 firearms, and still a few with more than 200.

The only time I might raise an eyebrow is if it were 200 AK's or 200 AR's. Perfectly legal, but there are only so many configurations, so that would seem a little odd.

But 200 firearms with a few being duplicates here and there; That's just an impressive personal lifetime collection.

I know one fellow who has so many he's had to invest in a huge walk-in safe. His collection numbers well into the thousands. I would say he has a massive number of firearms.

I just discovered that I drove to work this morning with a "massive collection of weapons " !!! Lets see he took an ar 15 capable of firing 30 rounds per magazine and converted it to a single shot 50 cal. oooooooh ! scary ! I'd be more worried about him wearing the headdress and the vest , sounds like he was about to shoplift a slurpee . Just be glad that he didn't have the chance to actually do anything violent , that would be another excuse to trash talk every law abiding gun owner and paint us with the same brush that they are with this dipstick .

He is a criminal and deserves to be arrested. He got what he deserved.

massive weapons cache oooooo three weapons? just another spin on massive gun cache. So in rogers picture he must have a army's worth of guns?:scrutiny: :fire::cuss::banghead::what::confused::barf:

:D

BTW rogers are those loaded mags in your guns?
