Jim Cirillo's Bullet designs - Anybody selling them?

If I remember correctly, "Felon Grabbers" were merely "Pin Grabber" bullets with a slot added across the nose.

The only "Jim Cirillo" bullets I know of are at http://www.safestop.net

Sometime in the last 8 or 9 months Gunworld published a story about Jim and the ammo company making his stuff. It was different than safestop, I believe.

The last company I heard of making these "Pin Grabber"/ "Felon Grabber"/"Game Grabber" loads was Kaswer Custom; I don't know if they're still in business, but they were making them in calibres up to .30-30 and .30-06.

I would like to bump this thread and see if anyone is going to make these rounds? I am currently reading his books and I must say its pretty interesting, hes very creditable and well respected in the gun world. Thoughts?

I understand he was killed in a car accident in Michigan. Survive more shootouts than any LEO in the Country, and die in a car.

Just goes to show how the most dangerous thing you will probably ever do in your life is climb into your car... but man my wife hates hearing that when she complains about how she still doesn't like guns (although I'm working on her)

If the bullet you're talking about is a HP with an almost cylindrical profile and a gaping cavity then there is an outfit producing something very similar.

IIRC, the design is said to be an "updated" take on what they referred to as the old British "Manstopper" concept from the late 19th century. The picture is of a 0.452" JHP weighing 260 gr with a BT-looking base, a lot of exposed lead at the tip and a huge "hex-and-pin" hollow cavity.

Looks as it it'd be nasty from a .45 ACP/AR/Colt revolver, but I can't see it feeding in most self-loaders.

No, Patton was killed when a deuce and a half backed into the path of his Packard.

whats funny is that he made his name during his stake out days with LRN ammo and accuracey.

What's relevant is that in at least one of the incidents that Mas Ayoob recounted in his 'eulogy' column to Mr. Cirrillo the delivery of what was described as a "heavily loaded sort of reversed, HB wadcutter" first round from his partner's .45 to one of the perps played a major role in the positive outcome of a hairy situation where they were both outnumbered by their opposition and had numerous non-combatant civilians to consider.

I don't believe Crillo was killed by a drunk, IIRC he pulled out in front of a big truck. I'll check...

I'm back. Jim pulled out in front of a tractor trailer on Route 8 near Brookfield, NY. He was dead at the scene, driver of the other truck was hospitalized.

I used an identical loading, but in .357 my first tour in Viet Nam. It works.

Geez, General Patton was murdered in his hospital room according to his wife.

According to the story, the round dropped the most serious and immediate of theats like a marionette with the strings cut and left a fist-sized hole in his torso.

One reason that I'm going to explore the possibilties of the Northwest Custom bullet in my 625. If it'll deliver that sort of performance at standard pressures, it's going on my 'short list' for serious social encounters muy pronto.

RIP MR. Cirillo, a true modern day warrior. IIRC his wife passed on before him of cancer,very sad.

Jim Cirillo was killed by a semi he pulled out in front of, in Michigan near his home, IIRC.

Kaswer Custom was the last firm I saw advertising the Pin-Grabber load, but that was probably 20 years ago. Given its profile, I think I'd be hesitant to use them for SD, they look downright EVIL. Some lawyer would make you into the antichrist for shooting someone with them. I think Cirillo designed them to make headshots more effective, bullets tend to skid off skulls unless they strike at a right angle, the "teeth" on the bullet were meant to dig in and give the bullet more "Bite". More often than not, while working stakeouts, all Cirillo had to shoot at was the BG's head.

Good Day All!
The original manstopper did have a big old round hollow cavity, I have designed our version with a tapered hex and pin for the 45 and the 40 cal, with a new 38/357 soon to be released in our tapered hex and pin design.
We also close the nose of the tapered hex and pin design and call that the "SCORPION" on the website at customprojectile.com these will feed into 1911 auto loaders. and Taffin at american handgunner has written about his experiences with these bullets as well, you can simply google "northwest custom projectile" and read the articles for free. You should all also checkout "buckammo.com" they sell all of the northwest custom projectile bullets in live ammo for those who do not reload..

Jim proved what could be done with a Model 10 HB. Sometimes the simple things work best. Im thinking of buying a pencil barrel model 10, the reason being that I can pick up the front sight better than the one on my Model 65. The 65 has been feeling a little muzzle heavy lately. RIP Jim, you were a true original.

Just FYI but it is widely believed amongst conspiracy types that Patton outlived his usefulness and was assassinated.

As for Cirillo, it almost sounds like a suicide. Although people pull that maneuver all the time around here, so maybe it was just his time.
