H&K with Silencer

I'm guessing that it was a USP considering SOCOMS aren't as cheap, what suppressor were you looking at?

And do remember you need the tax stamp in your hand before you actuallly buy the suppressor.

Well, technically, you can buy the silencer without the tax stamp. You just cant pick it up from your Class 3 dealer without the stamp.

That's downright cheap for a USP-T, if it's .45. If 9x19, both prices are a bit steep but as you mentioned it's .45acp.

That done with, what brand is the silencer? Model? Year of manufacture?

$800 for the can, it depends on who makes it and what model it it. if it is a Ti rant from AAC then that sounds right.

And if it's basically anything else....

I like mine. Fun toy. I'm in the process of threading a barrel for a 1911, at which point I'll likely sell the USP Tac just because I prefer the 1911, but the setup works well.

As mentioned, you'll need to find out the make and model of the suppressor before we can determine if it is a reasonable price.

Is the silencer rectangular? If so, that setup is worth every single penny of the price, and is a very good deal indeed.

The Osprey 45 is basically matched for the title of "best .45 silencer", currently. The MSRP is $850, so $800 is a fair price indeed.

If it is from SilencerCo it is an Osprey. That is the only 45 silencer that they are making right now. It is probably one of the best 45 silencers on the market right now. I am seriously considering getting one even though I already have a 45 silencer. Current set-up is an HK Tactical with a CCF Impuls II.

No, the silencer will not interfere with accuracy. Yes, if it's an Osprey that would be a helluva deal! The new Osprey is quiet, however don't expect "Hollywood Quiet"

Yes, actually, DO expect "Hollywood Quiet" when running the Osprey 45 with water. It's absurd - on par with a silenced .22lr pistol.

Seriously though, I did hear Hollywood quiet recently while out shooting with another guy. He has the sweetest intergral CZ452 that is SPOOKY quiet! The intergral can has 14 baffles in it and truly the only thing you hear is the click from the firing pin and the sound of the bullet cutting through the air!

My Romanian trainer in .22lr is like that as well, with a muzzle silencer and subsonics.

The Gemtech (w/o Nielson device) my dad has on his USP 45 Tactical doesn't shoot to POI with the suppressor on. The pistol shoots about 6"-7" high and to the right at 25yds with the suppressor. It hits dead on without. Hopefully I won't have issues with my setup once the paperwork comes back.

The Gemtech Blackside is known for having a poi shift. Its by far the smallest 45 silencer made, just 6". So to keep it on db reduction par with the 8-9" silos that SWR and AAC make they put in aggressive baffles that strip away the gases but that causes side turbulance nudging the bullet in one direction. I know this cuz my Blackside does the same for me. My Sig and Glock are dead accurate without it, but when I screw the can on my groups shift a few inches off due the baffle arrangement. The only way to combat point of shift impact is by an indexing system, which simple threads dont allow. Still its a great little can that really excells on .44 and 45 long colt carbines.

Wrong, the Blackside is 7.6" long, as it now has a Nielsen device. The Thompson Machine, which is actually quite nice, quiet for what it is, and is only 6.8” long, 1.375" diameter, and 5.4oz, versus the Blackside's 7.6" OAL, 1.370" diameter, and 10oz.

Also, the Blackside is by no means anywhere near as quiet as the Osprey 45 or the AAC Evolution 45, nor the AAC Ti-Rant 45. Back when it was released, the Blackside was good, cutting-edge tech, but no longer.

One last point - baffles that are "aggressive" do not screw up bullet path. Baffles that are poorly machined and/or poorly designed, do.

Maybe your Blackside is 7.6" but mine is 6". Just to let you know Gemtech still offers it without the booster so it remains 6" and I assure you it is quieter than the Thompson unit you speak of as I heard it and its not as quiet as the Gemtech unit. The Blackside isnt as quiet as my Osprey. The Blackside is very much similar in db reduction as the AAC Evo45, SWR Hems2 and KAC 45. As they all are wet cans that reduce db around 22db-dry and 34-wet. I chose the Blackside cuz it was the smallest while being equally quiet, but I give up poi due the aggressive baffles. My Osprey 45 doesnt shift groups as its a larger can with much more volume. The Osprey is so awesome that when shot dry its very similar to all the others mentioned shot wet. Now image the Osprey wet!
