H&K with Silencer

I have a hard time believing that your Blackside is as quiet as an Evo45 or KAC45. Until the Osprey45 and Ti-Rant came out, the KAC45 was the QUIETEST can out there. Are you going by ear, by numbers from the manufacturer, or by numbers from independent testing?

I have a friend in PA that told me HK will void the warranty on the firearm if used with a suppressor made by anyone other that KAC. I am not sure if it was model dependant but he has a USP 45 tac full size. He purchased a KAC suppressor for that reason. I have been meaning to look into but I live in a suppressor prohibited state so I admit I haven't rushed to confirm it.

You're right, the KAC was the quietest. It was marginally on and off safe dry. Its about 139db dry, sometimes 141-138 depending on atmosphere/weather, ammo and elevation. The Blackside according to Al Paulsons testings generally metered 142db dry, not quite safe . Wet they were closer in his findings. I recall 1db separated them, giving the KAC the edge. 130 wet range. He listed the readings 1 meter to the left of the barrel and to the ear reading. Generally 2 decibles are the difference to the two locations. I heard folks mention if one gets the Blackside with the booster/LID they get one more decible reduction. As for the Evo-45 I cant tell a difference between that and the Blackside. Many folks feel the SWR Hems2 was the next quietest behind the Knights can. To me the KAC isnt worth the $1200 price tag given it was barely quieter than the Blackside that I paid $585 and only 5oz, while the KAC is 15oz. Yep, the Osprey and Tirant have made all other 45 cans obsolete in my opinion, although I still like having a small, light can like the Blackside. :)

To the OP, BUY THAT SETUP! Its worth every penny and a hellova deal at that!

I have a USPtac and HEMS2 and it sounds the best with 8cc's of wire pulling gel, water doesnt do as good a job. That being said, I still want a 45osprey as its worlds ahead of the HEMS2.

I have the 9mm Osprey for my USP9sd, but the 45 version would be sweet!

HK has said it will void the warranty unless you use the KAC suppressor. They also have said that the suppressor made by B&T was also allowed. This suppressor was made under contract here by CCF. It is the Impuls II which is the one I am running.

I am not sure how they would blame the suppressor and be able to prove that you were not using an approved one. Besides most companies say they will void the warranty for just about anything imaginable. Just about every single gun company says handloads will void the warranty. That doesn't stop millions of shooters from using them though. Is anybody aware of a company refusing to fix a gun because of handloads? (Of course if you blew the gun up with a double charge or something like that, I could see them denying the repairs..)

Warranty or not I still want one of the Ospreys for my HK.

Hey... Post #1000..:D

warranty threats are often a good indicator the company you are dealing with has lousy customer service. its often used as a tool so they dont have to repair your product for free if something does happen. If you do a search though most 45 suppressors are tested and marketed mounted on a HK Tactical 45. it'll be ok.
