S&W M&P15 MOE; I have a question...

Well as my 18th birthday draws closer I am giving more and more thought as to my first firearm purchase. I have already decided on an AR, and am pretty much also sold on the M&P15 MOE. I have experience with AR's and feel comfortable shooting them and with the fact they can serve multiple roles from HD to blowing up water bottles, so I am not really looking for suggestions but if you must go ahead ;)

This is what I need to know;

1. Is there any way to mount an MBUS up front on this particular gun and get rid of the front sight in the process.

looks like you would either have to get a railed gas block or bob that one and get a railed hand gaurd.

you might look at a different model if you want a flip up front sight.

Well that is my problem, I really like it and it already comes with most of what I would want anyway but the MBUS is the only problem. I had thought about a railed gas block but magpul had said that it would get to hot for the sight.
 
well, there are folks here that know more than me on the subject that will likely chime in.

out of curiousity, why dont you want the standard front sight post?
 
Just a suggestion, how about the m&p15t instead....comes with the free float rail and already has great BUIS (Troy).
 
What kind of optic are you going to get? I have the rifle you are looking at and with my ACOG I don't see the front sight.
 
well, if you're the type that feels your rifle is absolutely useless without back up sights because even your fingers could simultaneously dislocate at all their joints leaving you with no way to shoot the zombies (and some are, and that's fine) then wouldn't you be better off with a standard fixed front post? After all, you have to flip them up when you need them and that takes fine motor skills that deteriorate when the feces hit the fan!

How I run my AR is with a standard front sight, an AimPoint Micro H-1, and... NOTHING ELSE! Holy handrails batman, there's no back up rear sight!!

Truth be told, I don't personally feel a need for it. It's an AimPoint, enough said! Works fine at 200, fine at 100, and still gets the job done at 25. Plus the battery life is insane. And that's with a constant-on condition, which I don't do. You're 18, man. I'd put the cash into something else. Like ammo, or towards a reloading equipment fund. Those sights are more expensive than you think, and if you're just going to fold them down 90% of the time, I'd leave em off.

Well you are a little off their man as I am positive I will have at least one finger left ;). I just figured it would make sense if you have an optic and a rear BUIS why would you not have one for the front? As for the post I really do not like the constant cowitness.
