Looking to pick up a bolt action 270. I've read and watched a couple of reviews. Mossberg seems to be OK. I read that Mossberg's bolts fall apart?? True? I didn't want to spend too much, 300 or 400 dollars max with optics. It will be for deer/hogs.
I agree. The Mossberg is about what you'd expect for the low price. The problem is that Marlin and Stevens are offering rifles that are better than you'd expect for about the same amount of money. I'd get one of them before I got a Mossberg.I don't think there is anything WRONG with them. It is just that for about the same money there are much BETTER rifles. Marlin XL-7, Stevens 200, Weatherby Vanguard come to mind.
The T/C Venture is another lower priced performer.
You said this perfectly.I don't think there is anything WRONG with them. It is just that for about the same money there are much BETTER rifles.
Which is why we told him that he'd get much more gun for his money if he bought one of the others suggested.the OP asked about the Mossy ATR-100.
