Taurus PT 92 Magazine Disassembly

Mine don't have machine screws and I've never heard of any that did. Are they factory? Perhaps a bubba gunsmithing job? Mine are exactly like the berettas with a spring-loaded button in the middle of the floorplate. Push, slide off.

Hmmm... maybe they secure the spacer on the 10-rounders with screws. I have no use for the 10 rounders. Does the mag baseplate have a spring-loaded plunger in it?

My factory 15 rd magazines are taken apart by depressing a button and sliding the baseplate off. I don't have screws on any of mine.

If the magazine bodies are not shortened/spaced like some I have (for the Para-ordnance for example) the bodies should be functionally identical to the full-cap ones. There is likely either a taller follower or (more likely) an internal spacer at the bottom of the mag that prevents the loading of more than 10 rounds. This may or may not surround the spring, but from what you're saying it seems likely to me that it doesn't... it's just a spacer that blocks the bottom portion of the magazine like a false bottom. In that case you'll have to replace the springs as well, as the 10rounders will be too short to function once you remove the spacer.

I bet the spacer is just screwed in. If you're not seeing a plunger/button in the baseplate, I'm guessing the entire baseplate/plug/spacer is one piece and just sticks into the bottom of the magazine. Try prying gently downward and see if it comes straight out the bottom. If this is the case, you'll have to buy new baseplates and spring plates OR modify the existing ones by shortening them, but leaving the baseplate portion AND the bit that accepts the screws. Take some pics once you get it apart.

I think the 2 screws are all that hold the things in there. May take some work to get it out of there though.
