I took my new PX4 to the range for the 2nd time today and shot it along side my PT-92. Up until the PX4 the PT 92AR was my best range gun. Guess What, by virtue of a tie, it still is.

My PX4 was flawless again and just downright fun to shoot. Then a horrific, terrible thing happened. My PT 92, after more than 600 rounds, had a FTF when a shell failed to chamber...:cuss: My Taurus is fun to shoot as well. 17 in the magazine, one in the chamber, cocked and locked, just like the PX4.

The PT 92 SS5 is too large to carry (for me anyway) but makes a great HD and Range gun though. The PX4 does it all. I don't think I'm going to need another semi for quite a while. Can you imagine comparing a Taurus with a Beretta after all of the PT 92 vs f92 wars I've been through over on TFL.

I realize there is not going to be very much response to this post because the PX4 is too new on the market. I just wanted to tell someone...;)

I ordered a PX4 yesterday from my gun guy. I can pick it up Tuesday. I am excited. What all came with your pistol?

I used to be really anti-Taurus but looking into it further it's Beretta's fault they gave them both the factory and designs in brazil, a bad short sighted business decision, perhaps they underestimated the value of their design and taurus forjas. Taurus makes a good product, they don't have the same kind of quality control though and their company is dishonest when it comes to that smartgun they tried to bring to market as well as the 24/7 marketing campaign that advertised it as the only pistol capable of a second strike on the ammo.

really though, was there some subtle question in your post that i didn't notice? they are both fine guns. I am very happy with my Beretta 92SB Compact, so far I've fired 250 rounds of Remington UMC and 50 winchester white box and the only problem thus far has been one incidence of a double feed (isn't that caused by limp wristing anyway?).

Jwh

Mine came with 2, 17round magazines, and the backstrap that is on the gun. Maybe you will luck out and get a LEO Box with 3 mags...;)

A little PX4 Storm Porn Until yours arrives...

No, I'm an upfront person and hardly ever subtle. I've owned my PT 92 for some time now and it is a fine pistol. I also have other excellent Tauri revolvers, especially my 689. I have always thought that folks who can hate a handgun are a little mixed up in their priorities, so I'm happy you don't hate Tauri anymore. Not much point to it. I also don't believe in 'limp wristing'. I think it became myth when someone who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn invented the term making it a physical defect rather then admit, he couldn't shoot!!!:D Here's my beautiful Tauri...

Mine stays at my side during the day in it's cozy little partner(play on words)

And at night she stays on duty as a nightstand gun.(with a quick attachment of course)

i love my pt-92 as well. i put a hogue grip on mine and use to have a ported barrel on it. I got a 96 Brigadier and i like the real beretta more in terms of fit and finish. however i can do a lot better with the PT-92, but they are different calibers so i cannot really compare.

my only qualm is how the Px4 holds up to dirt and grime? How much does it take to "gum" it up?

i haven't looked at the internals, but the rotating bolt seems similar in concept to the Mauser M2 pistols, but larger. While good under normal condiditons, the M2 have become notorious for "gumming up" unless they are kept unrealisticaly clean.

Does the Px4 have similar problems? i saw one in my gun store recently and am curious.

Can the PX4 Storm really do cocked-and-locked? Looks like a slide mounted decocker/safety that rotates the "wrong" way -- same as Beretta 92.

I stopped buying DA/SA guns a long time ago as I learned I just don't like them. But I'll admit my "Made in Italy" Beretta 92 is one of the finest pieces of mass-market workmanship I've ever seen.

900 round torture test today.Windy, dusty and sand blowing everywhere, cloudy and damp.A place where oily moving parts shouldn't be.My Px4 never skipped a beat.My Beretta Cougar has the same rotating barrel system and it too has never minded dirt or grit.

That's dirt sand and grit.Cleaned up like a brand new one, with just a quick blast of air and a drip of oil.

I think it looks like a Cougar in a polymer body with a nicer SA trigger. There was a guy around here who used an 8045 in three gun competitions and he never had a problem with it.

I don't think the PX4 can do cocked and locked. I am considering one and handled it. It looks like the usual Beretta slide mounted safety.

As for underestimating the sales potential for Taurus, a lot of people would rather pay the extra for a 'real' Beretta. Besides, their options were to junk the machinery, sell it, or haul it back to Italy. Number three cost too much.

I just had a chance to see one of these up close over the weekend. Never heard of it before, then my buddy showed me his when we were up hunting. PX4 Storm 9mm. Looks like a VERY nice piece, it was extremely comfortable in my hand, and probably the only handgun I've found that points as well, if not better, than my XD. I don't know if I'd ever get it as I'm not a fan of DA/SA and a little out of my price range for now, but I think it'd be a nice piece. Good full size pistol, but not too large to carry. We were going to go to the range so I could try it out but time got away from us. Hopefully we'll get there sooner than later. I'll let yall know what I think when we're done, but I'm kind of expecting to be impressed.

Oh yea, that's correct, it is the 'typical' beretta 92 style slide mounted safety, when the safety goes on, the hammer goes foreward.
