When I built my house I never considered which fraiming hammer was better looking, I wanted something to pound nails. Guns are tools, form follows function.
Most any full-bbl K-frame half-lug gets my vote for best-looking S&W Revolver. Unfortunately, I'm starting to think a new 386 XL laying in the case at a LGS is looking pretty gorgeous too... Dang-it... Does it ever end?
I'm kinda partial to my 6" Model 27, well, maybe it's my 4" Model 15, But, then again I really do like my stainless 2" Model 60. Oh hell, I love 'em all.
Of all my S&W revolvers I prefer the I frame "Regulation Police" from 1927 or so chambered in 38 S&W. The fit, finish and lines are much more attractive than any of the modern guns. The heft, balance and handling are far more pleasing than any of my others. A "Chiefs Special" J frame is a close second.
A tie, between my 4" factory nickel S&W model 10-5, factory nickel model 19-3,
and a blued 3.5" S&W 27-2 for revolver's. Auto's, no question the S&W 39-2
hands down~!
But so do the old top-break Smiths from a century ago.
And many other models - I find it hard to choose one "best looking" Smith and Wesson. I like the old large frame top-breaks like the #3s and the Russians as much as the more modern ones. I also have a soft spot for the kit guns, I think they look very good too.
