Pick a Revolver from TV or Movie

never heard of "sledge hammer" but that looks blue...thus a 29, not a 629.

(that guy needs to get his booger hook off the bang switch)
Actually, Sledge Hammer's gun was in fact a stainless-steel 629 (can't tell from the B&W pic).
(Sledge Hammer was a comedy TV series back in the late 80's that spoofed the "Dirty Harry" and other rogue-cop movies).

If you go back and read some of the Ian Flemming books you will find that Bond carried a Beretta .25 because it looked good under his tuxedo, but "M" kept taking it away from him and requiring him to carry the PPK. Don't think they ever mentioned that in the movies.

I already have mine. It is a 6 inch barrel Colt Python just like the one David Soul used on "Starski & Hutch". The next one I would want is a copy of Dirty Harry's S&W 29.

On SPENSER FOR HIRE, Hawk had a high-polish nickel or stainless 8" Python that I drooled over every time I saw it. Just gorgeous!

Doubt I'll ever have one of those...

But I also really liked Dirty Harry's big .44 Magnum. I found a 6" Model 25 last year that's a kissin' cousin and bought it instead. I have to admit, I've caught myself at least once looking in a mirror and saying, "Go ahead, make my day..."

Patton did had a Colt SAA in 45LC but he also is known to have had a S&W 357 Magnum. The magnum that later became known as the model 27. Both had customized ivory grips. He also carried a small .32 or .380 semi-automatic pistol.

Someone's already said Mal's gun from Serenity, and Dirty Harry's Model 29. My interest in guns started with film, so... Here are several. Mind you, when I started this list, I didn't realize it was revolver-specific, but I'll try to add mostly revolvers.

Han Solo's DL-44 (Mauser)

Ash's boomstick (I own a very similar AyA)

Max's double barrel (if only it didn't take a tax stamp)

Brisco County Jr's Peacemaker (a runner up to Lord Bowler's Mare's Leg)

Which is literally the same firearm as...

And back to topic, as far as revolvers...

And Bronson's first Death Wish firearm

The FIE Titan from Dawn of the Dead (one of my favorite films, to the point that I'd consider one of those junk guns just for the nastalgia)
800px-D78basement.jpg

And Flyboy's Single Six (the majority of the firearms on that film are .22s or plastic blank-firing rifles)

Since I can't do Callahan's 29, there's this one.

And a Safety Hammerless

You'll notice Harrison Ford, Bruce Campbell, and Eastwood come up more than once in my list. Might sort of indicate who my heroes are.

And of course

Really, my favorite firearms are almost all revolvers and shotguns. I think it points back to the age of exploitation film in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, when most sets were using real firearms and autos couldn't cycle blanks, so everyone had revolvers or shotguns. They're just more tasteful to me, and I'd say that's why.

I was kinda hoping nobody would beat me to it, but definitely Paul Kersey's (Charles Bronson) 32 Colt Police Positive from Death Wish. I love small frame NON-snubbies, and this film and revolver are kind of iconic in my mind now (although I may want a blued one instead of nickel, since I generally like blued revolvers better, but might make an exception for one of these).

I want John Wayne's Colt SAA. He could shoot it 37 times without reloading and every shot killed at least 2 Indians. :neener:

I'm going to have to say this since nobody has yet. The revolver Vash uses in trigun. It's a .45LC that is somewhat of a cross between the Metaba and a Scholfield.

I can't really find a good picture of it at the moment, but hopefully at least one other person knows the gun I'm talking about.

The 2.5" Colt Diamondback that Steve McQueen used in 1968's Bullitt. The one that they put the older style Colt Detective Special rounded grips on it. Somebody was thinking whne they did that. It was what a more gun savy individual would have done. Makes the revolver a little more concealable when compared to the blockier square grips that it came with. Notice the comparison photo. The screencapture is the last frame from the movie.

Since nobody has mentioned two of my favorites

Doc Holiday's colts from the movie Tombstone have always been two of my favorite. Colt Single Action Army Quickdraw Model and Colt Lightning. Great movie and great guns.
