First I'd like to say hello, This is my first post on this forum.

My wife shoots a S&W model 637 1.875" barrel. I bought a thousand 105 grain field point hard cast bullets for it (next to nothing in price). Ill be using cci 500 primer. I have power pistol, 800x and Blue Dot for powders. I'm not new to reloading and am experienced loading 10mm and high end loads.

I'm having trouble finding any load data. The closest thing I have in my manuals is 110 grain and max 7.5g blue dot from 2005 Alliant loading manual.

I'd prefer to use power pistol for its metering capabilities over the other two i mentioned, plus I'm trying to streamline my powders to a couple...

Does anyone have any 105 or 105 lead data. (they are hard lead so speed isn't a factor and I'm going to be using these for the lowest recoil as possible without sacrificing accuracy.

I don't mind buying the manual if it has this data I just don't have any book stores local where i can find below 125 grain data. The internet ordering has made it hard to find a reloading book with the specific recipes I need.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to exchanging my experiences with everyone.:D

My wife and I shoot thousands of 105 gr. cast bullets per year in SASS. It's a great little bullet, but don't hotrod it. I load ours with Bullseye, but others use Titegroup and American Select. I happen to like Bullseye, since it's served me well since about 1963.

Hope this helps.

Do you have any books with published load data or did you just have to experiment or wing it?

I won't be pushing them at all I have a 10mm for that. 1800 fps + with a 135 grain hp.

Just want a backyard plinking load with light recoil.

None of those are much good for what you want to do.

Buy a can of Bullseye, Red Dot, or W231.

Any of them will burn right at the low pressure and velocity you plan to use.
The others won't.

And you will get about 2,000 rounds out of a can of powder.

For the lighter loads, you'll pretty much have to wing it. I don't post loading data on open forums, but I'll PM you with what we're using.

Hope this helps.

I've shot a lot of 105gr SWC (Lee .359 105gr SWC) in PPC for the short yardages.

I always used the same powder charge I used for the 148gr WadCutter. 2.7gr of Bullseye. There were differences in zero setting due to difference in recoil and barrel torque as the bullet was twisted by the rifleing (hence elevation and windage adjustment needed, even at 7-15yds).

Of the three powders you listed, the Power Pistol will be the most likely to be useful.
I'd suggest starting at 4.0gr and adjust up or down as you might need. It'll likely "lite off" better than the BlueDot or 800X and certainly measure more accurately at the small powder charges you'll be using.

I suggest likewise, you get a pound of Bullseye to go with your 105gr bullets.

I was using 2.0 grain of Unique over 100 and 110 grain bullets for light practice loads with my wife's S&W 37 Airweight.

I would think 2.0 Unique with any bullet weight is probably unsafe.

It might work in a snub-nose.
But it might stick bullets in a longer barrel, or any revolver with excess barrel / cylinder gap.

My Lee load table says it's safe to use a starting load for a slightly HEAVIER bullet with a lighter one, but not the other way around. So, a listed load for a 110 grain, or 125 grain lead bullet should be safe for a 105 grain as a starting load.

It is a snub nosed air weight 15 oz S&W 1.875" barrel.

Thanks for the questioning it though. I know too light is as dangerous as too much in many cases. With such a short barrel a heavy primer may eject the bullet. I may have to try that to see if it does with such a light short bullet.

I've loaded that bullet and 100 grain wadcutters with 3.0 and 3.2 grains of bullsey. Nice pleasent load to shoot and accurate.

Thanks for the info.
I think I'm going to buy some different powder for light loads than what I have. I'm thinking Bullseye, Unique, or red dot. Which of these meter well?

Bullseye meters great for me, and always has. It's the old standby, and they don't call it "Bullseye" for nothing....

Hope this helps.

It was shot in a 1 7/8 barrel gun, and I raised it to 2.5 grains for a 4". I call them gallery loads. When I run out, I have some 700x to burn up.

I load the Lee 105gr SWC over 3.8gr of Bullseye (38 special). Its not a pee-wee load, but it is accurate and comfortable out of my snubby.
