Okay. I do like the +0 base plates. They only make the base plate a tad longer and definitely get rid of any pinky pinching when firing. I do really like my G36, but if Glock would have simply made the grip length the same as the magazine length that would have saved me $40.00 that could have gone towards ammo or night sights.
Part of my concern is that on some guns that have extended magazines, the hand can pry down on that magazine hard enough that it actually accelerates the wear at the mag catch and the mag slot on the mag itself. I've had extended mags come unseated during firing when regular mags in the same gun don't have that problem. Some might say it is simply the mag. Well, on some problematic mags I can remove the extension and put on a flat base plate. Magically, the problem vanishes.
Also, extended mags can rock back and forth under hand pressure when firing. I've read of some people having feed problems with early G36s and some resorted to shimming the mags with plastic or thin card stock to prevent the rocking. Apparently, this created a problem with the angle of the ammo as being stripped from the mag. That is something I will have to watch as my G36 gets more rounds down the tube.
All I know is if the G36 grip frame was built longer and still housed 6 rounds in the magazine, I'd like the G36 that much more.
