I'm not superstitious, but this was a rough trip to the range...
So I braved the winter storm and drove to the local indoor range bringing my 5.5" SS Bisley Blackhawk in .45LC, my 3" Uberti .45LC with birdshead grip, and the new Kel Tec P3AT that my fiancee bought me for Christmas. I also brought a variety of ammo with me, most of which I had never tried before. More on that later...
First up, my new lil .380.
Pop! Pop! *jam*
(clears the jam)
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Hmmm, I'm all over the paper at 7 yards, even missed it once!"
That continues for about 50 rounds.
"Eff this, time for some action."
I load up the Blackhawk with standard pressure Buffalo Bore pushing a 255gr Keith bullet at 1000fps.
Boom! *clickety-click* Boom! ...and so it continued, and there was much rejoicing. Awesome round, kicks like a .357 in that Blackhawk and accurate to boot.
"Okay time for the bad mammer-jammers, the Buffalo Bore 325gr L.B.T. - L.F.N. hauling butt at 1325fps."
BOOM!!!
BOOM!!! "I think the hammer is biting the web of my thumb under recoil..."
BOOM!!! "Yep, that's definitely drawing blood."
One cylinder of those was enough to put two deep gouges in my hand. I think it may be time for a shooting glove. So I go to extract the casings and one was stuck so tight I could not get it out no matter what I did. So now that meant the Blackhawk was down for the count until I could go home and work on it.
Time for the Uberti. "I think I'll try those standard pressure Buffalo Bore rounds first."
BOOM!!! "Dang! Lots more flash and recoil for these in the little birdshead!"
After a cylinder of those it was time for some cowboy-level handloads I got with the gun. 160gr L.F.N. at about 800fps, tops.
Bang! *click-click-click-click* Bang! ...and so on. Love those rounds, they recoil like a .38 but throw some cool sparks and are pretty accurate.
"Hmmm, I wanna try this snake shot in the Uberti."
Bang!
(cylinder locks up)
The spent casing is flopping around in the chamber and locking up the gun but not coming out any further than 1/8".
I dunno. My hand is bleeding, I have two revolvers locked up, and my new mousegun is the proverbial "Jam-o-matic POS".
I finished off my last box of .380 in the Keltec and it was much better, hitting consistently, ejecting casings more consistently, and not jamming, but then one of the pins was walking out of the frame. :banghead:
So then I said that's it for me, time to go home... Ugh...
