So I decided to get myself a gift for Christmas, it's a Romanian FA Cugir M10-762 built by Colorado Guns. I have been interested in this gun for a while now and finally my local shop got one in and I decided to snatch it up.

very nice, i also christmas myself with one. its the exact same thing except mine will come with a side folder. from what i have researched M+M LLC are the importers for this particular romy ak variant, not sure if colorado has their hands on putting them together grips/rail system/opened up magwell/ as we currently see them. any plans on doing a review/range results? im curious on a couple of things, especially they claim of 6lbs dry.

Count me in on one for "Christmas" - at least that what my wife said it was for. I haven't had time to get it out and shoot it yet, so not much I can add.

I did buy several new Russian AK mags (steel) from Midway a couple of weeks ago at a very cheap price and they fit like a glove; the mag they come with is garbage. Also looking for a longer stock - not a fan of such a short LOP.

Let us know how it shoots....

like nwilliams posted, but saiga could only wish they could import them to that configuration. never owned a saiga or arsenal, my moneys are all on cugir romy type ak variants, because they import all the cool stuff. and Saiga's=0=SAD

just ordered one of these for my wirefolder

So does cugir. I handled an M10-762 earlier today. There's more than enough American made parts on it to tell me that it's not actually imported that way.

Saiga's=0=SAD

Arsenal Saiga SGL 21-66 = :D

robg, you have to remember any ak type firearm imported to the U.S has certain restrictions depending on country of origin, seems russia imported ak based type firearms can only enter as hunting type you know the one with the ugly hunting stock and no pg and non traditional hg, as for the cugir factory they enter our country as close to a true type akm style rifle,
thank god for the currently imported cugir ak type variants, without them i would never own thes types, at a descent price, umm for saiga well take a look
1. RPK=:D.....saiga=:(
2. PSL=:D.....saiga=:(
3. mini-draco pistol=:D....saiga=:(
4. now the m10 with the cool gasblock=:D.....saiga=:(
5. draco pistol:D, dont have one......saiga=:(

until such time saiga imports them close to a true type akm style rifle, then i will buy one, dont want no conversion, but hey thats just me:) merry christmas and happy newyear:)

Thanks to 922r no rifles from any country can be imported into the US if they are not in "sporter configuration" this includes Russia and Romania. The rifles are put together here in the US in compliance with 922r which means they can't have more than 10 foreign made parts so on an AK pattern rifle this means the 6 US parts are needed out of the 16 total.

To the best of my knowledge the 922r compliance parts on the M10-762 are:

1: Stock
2: Pistol Grip
3: Forend
4: Trigger group (3 parts)
5: Muzzle Break

It needs to have a total of 6 to be compliant. The rest of the gun is all newly manufactured FA Cugir parts. Mine came with a Bulgarian mag not the Tapco one which is nice!

As I recall the Arsenal AKs are exactly the same way as far as compliance parts go. Basically they keep the good parts (i.e. commie made receiver, barrel, gas tube, etc.) and replace the furniture, trigger, pg and muzzle break with U.S. made ones. I did like that M10-762 quite a bit. But it wasn't quite what I was looking for today. I'm kind of on the hunt for a 74 at the moment otherwise I might be owning a nice Romanian AK. :)

Out of curiousity, does the magwell on yours look Dremeled out? A lot of Romanian AKs I've seen get imported with single stack mags (to get around the import ban) and then get dremeled when they get here. I know that's how Century Arms does there's. But the M10 I saw didn't look that way so either Colorado Guns does it differently or they're getting properly spec'd receivers.

as for the opening on magwells, your right cia does open them up to accept double stack mags, but sometimes they over do it=mag wobble. but my romys run just fine. as long as the receivers come from the cugir factory they are all the same, but maybe colorado does a better job on opening the magwells compared to cia. guess it depends whos behind the machining on opening up the magwells cause my mini draco holds the mags nice and snug:confused:

cause my mini draco holds the mags nice and snug

Dracos are technically pistols so they're not subject to 922r or any of the import restrictions. So they can import them with 100% foreign parts and already set up to accept high capacity magazines. It's one of the nice parts about them because they really are completely factory made unmolested guns. Short version is your draco has probably never been anywhere near a dremel. The magwell is factory cut at the time the receiver was made in Romania.

Interestingly if you choose to turn one into a rifle (they're popular for SBR builds) then the general belief is that you have to swap out some parts for US made ones because the gun is subject to 922r once it's legally a rifle. I've always found that one of the more frustrating parts of collecting AKs is keeping track of all these asinine laws. :cuss:

im sure its head and shoulders above its romanian counterpart, the WASR, i just cant get over the lack of the dimples. They give the AK so much character lol.

to the op, hope its ok to post here instead of starting another thread about the m10, totaly forgot about this thread. posted on other forums if those interested on this particular variant. some range results
did not really care fore the hg it came with, so pictured set up is just for accuracy testing, mine came originally withe wire side folder

Nice looking gun's guy's,Can you still get the under-folding stock for the AK variant's?I got one on my Maddi but had to install a block on the back of the reciever so I cant open or close the stock with a 30rd.clip in it since it put's the under-folder back about an inch or so.That was pre-ban yrs.ago.I like the AR type stock too nice pic's.

@ifit: We are glad to be able to offer it. We got really lucky to be able to offer this quality for the price thanks to an awesome partnership we have developed with Cugir.

BTW where did you the the HGs? I like the color... I have been considering swapping the steel for wood on my personal m10.

I am very interested in this rifle, but unfortunately I live in the Peoples Republic of New York. Is that barrel device a muzzle break, or a flash suppressor?

I believe that our current muzzle devices would be considered a flash hider/suppressor, but please check your local laws and regulations to determine legality for sure.

If you are specifically interested in the M10, I can find out what if any other options we currently have or may provide in the near future, but is the muzzle device the only feature that prevents you from ownership in NY?

PM sent M&M. my m10 muzzle device is just a shortened PSL muzzle brake. i think the m10 needs some sort of device that will secure any type of brake if we decide to replace them, maybe somethin like the ar15s, beleive its called a crush washer, since theres no pin to hold the brake in place, just a suggestion.
